Tertiary Education Opportunities for In-Service Teachers Teachers play an important role to the development of pupils in the school.

The successful pupils will produce various and successful society. Educational workers like teachers are very important to civilizations of humanity. Nowadays, there a lot of teachers work in the educational field in the government sector. The teachers come from various academic backgrounds such as Certificate holders, Diploma holders and Degree holders. In service of these teachers, there are many changes that happen along these several years in Malaysia. It is the challenges for these teachers. Since the Education Ministry targeted to have 100% graduate teachers in primary school towards 2012, upgrading the academic qualification of teachers has been one of the main agenda of the ministry. Therefore, the workers called in-service teachers which have been already served to the country for a period time should further their studies to empower their knowledge and skills, strength their financial status and use the distance learning being offered by government. Firstly, from the tertiary educations, teachers have the opportunities to empower their knowledge and skills. During the studies, teachers will learn to use new technology and new approach method to updated their skills and knowledge. From these method, its will produce teachers that able to cope with the globalization era nowadays. Interactive teaching aids will be costs to them which from these items, have many pictures and sounds. Teachers also able to save their time in teaching when they use the latest technology such as projector and LCD screen. Therefore, their teaching will have full of knowledge and be fun at the same time. Teachers also can get many teaching resources from the internet in a short time and their can access it easily. Secondly, in-service teacher can be able to strength their financial status. Its can upgrade their salary by upgrading their academic qualifications. Teachers can get the titled as graduate and its get many benefits such as new salary grade higher allowance. This strong economics status can improved the quality of life and stable in terms financial needs. Teachers will have peace of mind in their career which is living costs that increase year by year. So, these teachers no need to make any extra job to upgrade their salary after teaching in school.

The third, teachers have the opportunities to further studies using distance learning such as through PPG, OUM, PGSR and many more programme. These local programme like PPG and PGSR are the big opportunities offered by Educational Ministry to empower the teachers in school without any fees needed. The course offered by the ministry have been form to suit with the time constrain faces by the inservice teachers. The learning will interact mostly using internets and it can be save a lot of time with these programme. The information that they needed can be obtain in short of time. Its have the flexibility to study and can be solve the problems like left their teaching job and their family. As a conclusion, in-service teacher should take the advantage to further their studies to develop their professionalism and skills in order to balance with the globalization era nowadays. The benefits will help them to widen their thinking, have skills in new technology and will give them in a long term period in terms of good financial status. From the tertiary education opportunities for in-service teachers, its give many benefits and teachers can get the opportunities from these programme.
