1st June 2012
The Quiz Night was a huge success. Thank you Simon and Michelle, for giving us so much fun and entertainment with your cleverly constructed question sheets…… And thank you for the prizes and the books which you so generously provided. News had obviously spread—there was even an extra table to sort out on the evening itself. The local papers will have photographs of the 1952 London Transport bus which Daisy Lonergan’s grandfather brought to school last Friday to help us celebrate the Jubilee. Photographs of the whole day are displayed in the Hall and well worth looking at. (Thank you Miss Walsh and Mrs. Britton). I am indebted also to Mrs. Egan for putting together the Jubilee ’goody bags’ which the children were thrilled to have.
Now Bronte Friends move on to the 16th June. Forget ‘Britain’s Got Talent’. The real BGT is ‘Bronte’s Got Talent’! All the arrangements are in place (thanks to Jeevan K’s and Alex B’s parents). All you have to do is to take part.
Children and teachers, why don’t we all wear ‘silly sox’ on Monday 11th June (it will cost us £1). Mrs. Gordon and Year 6 are raising money again for ChYps—and there are tea and cakes available as well. D’ont forget—it’s the final day for ordering the Ward Hendry school/freestyle photographs on Tuesday 12th June. This is the same day as the ISA London South Athletics at Norman Park in Bromley. The following day Year 6 are visiting Cobham Hall for a ‘Safety in Action’ programme and then on the Thursday it is the Gravesham Kwik Cricket tournament at the ‘Bat and Ball’ ground. Details about ‘Joss Bay’ on 18th June will be sent to you during the first week back after half term. Later this morning Mrs. Egan is joining me in assembly to do the Bronte Friends 100 Club draw. I shall also be handing out certificates to the Year 3 and Year 4 children who took part in the ‘Quicksticks’ hockey tournament on Tuesday—the first time we have participated in this Gravesham School Sport event. The Honours Boards have re-appeared with two new ones added. Welcome back! They look good in their new position on the walls leading to the garden entrance. Enjoy half term and your Jubilee celebrations.
Bronte's Got Talent!
- but do let us know as soon as possible. We have had offers of help from a sufficient number of parents for us to go ahead with the Summer Fayre on 6th July. Mrs. Dio (Karam Year 4 and Taran Year 1) has kindly offered to co-ordinate the arrangements with help from Mrs. Bains (Karam Year 4 and Jeevan Year 2), Mrs. Pendleton (Amy Year 4) and Ms. Barnes (Sasha Year 2). News from France is very positive with the faxes confirming how busy they are with all the activities, what fun they are having and how lovely the food is! We look forward to seeing photographs and hearing personal recollections after half term.
