Day 1 – Fly from Yangon to Mandalay
and transfer to the Road to Mandalay.
Enjoy a guided tour of Mandalay,
regarded as the centre of Burmese culture
and Buddhist learning. Return for dinner
and local entertainment.

Day 2 – Disembark at Sagaing, the
living centre of the Buddhist faith in
Burma, also known for silversmiths.
Sailing south, learn about local places
and customs from your on-board guide,
before a casual cocktail party and dinner.

Day 3 – The ship arrives at Bagan where
over 2,000 temples and pagodas are
scattered. A guided tour introduces you
to the most important temples. Watch
the sun set over the plain before dinner
and on-board entertainment.

Day 4 – Transfer to Bagan airport for
your onward flight to Yangon.

Day 1 – Fly from Yangon to Bagan and

Day 3 – Transfer to Sagaing, considered

to be the living centre of Buddhism

Day 4 – Travel to Maymyo, a colonial

hill station with a cool climate and

colourful market.

Day 5 – Cruise to Mingun and see the

Hsinbyume Pagoda and the world's

largest uncracked bell. Return by ferry

for a guided tour of Mandalay.

Day 6 – Visit a local village for a walking
tour and discover the Burmese way of life
first hand. Set sail for Bagan once more.

Day 7 – Arrive at Mount Popa, a national
park, with a complex of monasteries,
pagodas and shrines.

Day 8 – From Bagan fly to Yangon.

Day 1 – Fly from Yangon to Mandalay,
where the stunning Road To Mandalay is
berthed on the Irrawaddy River. Set sail
on your voyage to Northern Burma. At
Mingun, visit the famous Mingun bell,
then enjoy a welcome dinner and get to
know your fellow travellers.

Day 2 – Enter the first of three gorges
around midday, before a walking tour
at Nwe Nyein to see traditional clay pot
sculpting. Later, sail past the picturesque
island pagoda of Thihadaw before a
cocktail party on-board.

Day 3 – Take an early morning stroll
around the delightful village of Kyan
Hnyat, where school children greet you
and the morning market bustles with
activity. Sail past rural villages dotted on
the shore, then anchor south of the old
market town of Katha, famous as the site
where the Irrawaddy Flotilla Company
scuttled its fleet in 1942.

Day 4 – Visit Katha by trishaw and visit
the marketplace made famous by George
Orwell in "Burmese Days". Later, explore
the splendid island pagoda of Shwe Paw,
just north of the town of Shwegu.

Day 5 – Cruise past logging camps and
the old colonial village of Zinbon as
green-clad mountains reach down to the
narrowing river. Visit the serene Thein Pa
Taung Meditation centre, before dropping
anchor off Bhamo where you may take a
stroll and meet the locals.

Day 6 – Visit Bhamo near the Chinese
border in the foothills of Yunnan, taking
local transport into the countryside.

Day 7 – In the early morning, board the
train to the forest station of Naba and
experience a journey into thick Kachin
jungle and teak forests. Enjoy a leisurely
afternoon's sailing and finish the day
with a few cocktails on deck.

Day 8 – This morning the ship anchors
off Thabeikkyin, where you will take the

road that winds past a forestry reserve
towards Mogok where you will meet
working elephants in the Burmese
teak forest.

Day 9 – Rise early to watch Mandalay
come into view, then disembark for a
tour of Burma's second city, including
lunch at a local restaurant. Enjoy a tribal
dance display in the evening.

Day 10 – See locals going about their
daily tasks as you pass many small
villages. Witness sunset over the
marvellous Bagan plain then take in a
traditional Bagan artists’ performance.

Day 11 – Visit the ancient sites in and
around Bagan with an experienced guide,
then you may wish to take an optional
tour to Mount Popa, legendary sacred
home of the Nats, with its impressive
summit monastery or take a horse-drawn
cart or bicycle to explore on your own.
Celebrate your final evening on-board at
a cocktail party and say goodbye to your
new friends during a farewell dinner.

Day 12 – Disembark in Bagan and fly
to Yangon.

Note: This cruise itinerary only operates in August and
September each year, therefore space is limited and early
bookings are essential.
