Her Majesty The Queen Buckingham Palace London SW1A 1AA Your Majesty,

June 6, 2012

Allow me to congratulate Your Majesty on your Diamond Jubilee. I am among the many millions who have admired you throughout your reign, and I am grateful to you for your six decades of service to us. I am writing to respectfully bring to your attention recent and ongoing events which are of great concern to me, and for which I believe the Government of Canada is either directly or indirectly responsible. These events include: - evidence of collaboration in the torture of Afghan detainees - proroguing Parliament (twice) to block investigations and to avoid a confidence vote - Ministers providing false information to Parliament going unpunished - dozens of unrelated acts being substantially amended or repealed under cover of a Budget Bill with inadequate time for meaningful debate - investigative powers of the Auditor General being reduced - critical oversight by the Canadian Security Intelligence Service Inspector General being eliminated - US law enforcement being allowed to enter Canada and make arrests on Canadian soil - increasing evidence of a special interest group having inserted itself into the Conservative Party, and governing Canada according to its ideology rather than for the good of Canadians. - committees being prevented from questioning amendments - committee meetings increasingly being closed to the public - longstanding environmental protections being weakened or repealed despite objections from world-renowned scientists in the field. - firing of all the environmental scientists responsible for monitoring our waters - former Liberal and Conservative Fisheries Ministers collaboratively protesting - scientists and respected citizens being labeled as radicals and enemies of the government - funding for important scientific studies being cancelled or reduced - evidence of contamination of the Athabasca river watershed in Alberta near the tar sands - unusually high cancer rates in the Athabasca river watershed in Alberta near the tar sands - local fish and wildlife developing gross abnormalities - a water safety study being cancelled and copies of the report destroyed - a renowned artist has destroyed his work in protest I humbly ask for Your Majesty's intervention to dissolve the 41st Parliament of Canada, and call a general election.

Yours very truly,

Islay Lamb
