Two Stroke Engine

First Stroke Intake And Compression

Second Stroke

- Power And Exhaust

2 Stroke Engine Working

Four Stroke Engine

1. Intake stroke: Air and vaporized fuel are drawn in. 2. Compression stroke : Fuel vapor and air are compressed and ignited.

3. Combustion stroke: Fuel combusts and piston is pushed downwards.

4. Exhaust stroke: Exhaust is driven out.

4 Stroke Engine Working

Advantage Of Two Stroke Engine

1. The engine fires - spark plug ignites - once every revolution of the crankshaft.

2. They produce twice the power than four stroke engines.

3. They are much simpler than four stroke engines.

4. They are lightweight and less costly.

5. Less moving parts e.g. no valve mechanism.

Disadvantage Of Two Stroke Engine

1. Fresh mixture is escaping with exhaust gases during exhaust stroke

2. Pollute more.

3. You have to mix two stroke engine oil.

Advantage Of Four Stroke Engine

1. More torque even at idling speed.

2. No fresh mixture escaping with exhaust gases.

3. More efficient use of gas.

4. Pollute less than two stroke engines.

Disadvantage Of Four Stroke Engine

1. More complicated.

2. Half as powerful as two stroke engines.

3. Fires once every two revolutions.
