Construction Work in Your Neighborhood, Odors Possible Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District, Combined Sewer Overflow Relining and Replacement Project
The Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD) would like to inform you of upcoming sewer improvement work in your neighborhood. The work, which will be performed by Spiniello Companies, is necessary to repair existing sewers on W. 11th St. Lining tentatively scheduled to begin July 9, 2012, and last approximately 5 to 7 days. The majority of the work will be performed by installing a new liner known as cured-in-place-pipe. This liner contains styrene resin which yields odors. Although it can be detected by the human nose, the odor, while being a nuisance, is at levels significantly lower than the allowable exposure limits deemed safe per OSHA and NIOSH. To assure the safety of residents, though, the Sewer District will conduct work site air monitoring within the sewer throughout the duration of the project. Additionally, Spiniello Companies will be providing ventilation in the collections system, which should decrease the intensity of the odors. Further, to lessen the possibility of odors from entering your residence or business, please pour water into your floor drains, so that your traps are not dry. Additionally, it is advisable to make certain all sink traps are filled with water. For your convenience, I have attached document, which will assist you in locating household traps found on the back of this letter. If you should you have any questions or experience any odor problems, please contact the NEORSD’s Water Quality and Industrial Surveillance (WQIS) Department and ask for a Supervisor: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm (Mon. – Fri.) 216-641-6000 After hours emergency 216-641-3200 We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this work may cause and will try to minimize disruption to the public. If you have any additional questions, please contact me at 216-701-4593. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding. Sincerely,
