Enjoy the FOURTH Annual Old Fashioned Fourth of July CELEBRATION

Wednesday, July 4th 4-6 pm Newell House Museum, by Champoeg Park FREE FAMILY EVENT!

Champoeg, Ore. Come to Champoeg to enjoy the 4th of July as Oregonians celebrated it in the 1860s and hear from Oregon author Kurt Nelson about the military history of the Pacific Northwest during the Civil War; participate in an Oregon History Bee; join in reading the Declaration of Independence; and listen to the music of the lively Civil War-era Whiskey Flats Brass Band. Bring your blanket or folding chairs, a picnic supper or help support the Newell House by purchasing strawberry short cake and hot dogs, and enjoy the afternoon of activities as Oregonians did at Champoeg in the 1860s! For those who love to bake pies, bring your best home-made pie to be tasted and judged by an illustrious panel of historical and local characters! The pies will be auctioned off after the judging, with proceeds going to support the Newell House Museum and the Butteville School. Bragging rights awarded for the best pies! The Old Fashioned 4th of July Picnic will be held on the west lawn at the Historic Newell House at Champoeg.
