“Lights”

By Kyle Alston (Verse 1) So he sat there staring at the bright lights And he vowed that his name would shine so bright But little did he know that it would cost him Yes it would cost him so much of his lifetime His friends tried to tell him it’s not really worth it He had so much to consider, like his purpose But he would have his own way and not listen Then he found himself in trouble: the lights had blinded him. (Chorus – 2x) You want to see your name in lights? You want fame and fortune all the time? Trust and believe it costs dearly I just wish that you could see clearly (Verse 2) The young man met a guy who was famous He told him what to do to be famous So the kid grew up and shook a lot of hands He thought he made a lot of friends But then he faced some huge demands Which would bring him to his end His friends tried to tell him it’s not really worth it He had so much to consider, like his purpose But he would have his own way and not listen Then he found himself in trouble: the lights had blinded him. (Chorus – 2x) You want to see your name in lights? You want fame and fortune all the time? Trust and believe it costs dearly I just wish that you could see clearly (Verse 3) Sadly the young man met his end The autopsy revealed cocaine in his system He wanted the fame and the fast life Never did he think about slowing down to get right All he cared about was his name in the lights He didn’t know Christ could save him and make him a light Now he’s in infinite trouble, his eyes are closed and all is dim The lights had blinded him.

(Chorus – 2x) You want to see your name in lights? You want fame and fortune all the time? Trust and believe it costs dearly I just wish that you could see clearly (Bridge) Your eyes might be open, but tell me can you really see? Lights are all around you, but tell me can you really see? (Chorus – 2x) You want to see your name in lights? You want fame and fortune all the time? Trust and believe it costs dearly I just wish that you could see clearly © 2012 Dynamic View
