July 11, 2012 Springfield Branch NAACP Commends Organizers in the Cykowski Recall Effort in the City of Easthampton Branch President, Rev. Talbert W. Swan, II, criticized Cykowski for racist remarks against Puerto Ricans.

The NAACP has long promoted involvement in activities that promote becoming a responsible, engaged citizen who contributes to the community and world. Learning about and taking action on issues such as poverty, homelessness, health equity, social justice and working with others to address social inequities help to create a better world. The submission of an affidavit, thereby initiating the process to recall City Councilor Donald Cykowski is an example of residents working for a cause larger than one’s self. The current climate of racial division in our nation has brought to light the need for increased civic involvement. The Springfield Branch NAACP commends the organizers of the recall effort and commits its support in seeking justice and fairness in the City of Easthampton. For more information, contact: Rev.
