Morse Earns Endorsement of Capital Regions South-Asian Business Owners and Community Leaders
ALBANY, NYDemocrat Shawn Morse, Chairman of the Albany County Legislature and Candidate for the 44th State Senate District, yesterday earned the support of a group of South-Asian community leaders and business owners from across the Capital Region. More than 70 people rallied with him at Mr. Tikka Kabab, an Albany restaurant. Albany small business owner and community leader Mohammad Saleem, speaking for the group said, I am very proud to join with my friends and neighbors across the Capital Region and endorse Shawns campaign for the State Senate. As the chairman of the Albany County Legislature, Shawn has established a reputation within my community as someone who understands the needs of merchants and small business owners, as well as a person who cares about addressing the unique needs of the large South Asian population who call the Capital Region their home. We are excited about Shawns campaign and are looking forward to working with him in what we are confident will be a successful bid to become our State Senator. Morse, the Democrat who is seeking to unseat 8-term incumbent Neil Breslin in the September 13th State Democratic Primary, said, This endorsement really means a lot to me because it is coming from a group of people who, until now, havent been inspired enough by a candidate to directly engage in the political process beyond casting their votes. I am especially honored to receive the support of the many South-Asian small business owners who are working hard to earn their share of the American Dream in the face of an economic recession that has slowed consumer spending and job creation, upstate city populations that decline seemingly everyday and a rising cost of living due in no small part to the State Legislatures addiction to unfunded mandates which increase middle-class property taxes and the overall cost of doing business. ###
