Installing SPSS 15

Note: If you are upgrading from SPSS 14 to SPSS 15 please take a backup of all your SPSS files before installing new software. 1. On inserting the SPSS 15 CD and click on Install SPSS

2. Select Site License and click Next

3. Select I accept the terms in the License Agreement and click Next

4. Once you have read the ReadMe Information, click Next

5. Customer Information User Name: and Organization: will already be entered in the relevant windows. Please enter the Serial Number which you will find printed on the cover of your SPSS Installation CD. Click Next

6. It is not necessary to change the location of the Destination Folder so just click Next

7. Upgrading from SPSS 14 to SPSS 15, your earlier version needs to be removed before the new version will fully install. Click OK when prompted to remove earlier versions. If you have never installed SPSS before skip to step 8.

8. Click Install To begin the installation process.

9. Select Get a license now and UNTICK Register with spps.com

10. A License Authorization window will open, click on Start

11. Select Use Authorization via Internet to get License, click Next

12. For the second time enter the Serial Number which you will find printed on the cover of your SPSS Installation CD. Click Next

13. SPSS 15 is now successfully installed and licensed on your machine. Click Finish and restart SPSS software

14. To ensure that the SPSS software has been fully licensed, please launch SPSS 15.0 for Windows. In the SPSS menu, go to: File > New > Syntax

15. In the new screen, type show lic. (include the full stop) From the menus, select Run > All.

16. An SPSS output should appear displaying your SPSS modules and when they will expire. Please note that as an SPSS customer, you do have free access to all SPSS modules for a period of 14 day, however please note that once you

have licensed your SPSS you will lose access to this free trial. At this stage please ensure that all of your modules are fully licensed until your usual renewal.

To licence Version 15 Site & Amos Version 7 Site, please follow these instructions: If you are working with Windows Vista and SPSS Version 15, please download the hotfix patch which can be found at: <http://support.spss.com/Tech/Products/SPSS/Patches/SPSSforWindows/15VistaHotf ixReadme.html>, before trying to licence your SPSS. If you have version 15 already installed then log onto your computer with Administration rights and launch the authorisation wizard from the Start > Programs > SPSS for Windows > Licence Authorisation Wizard > Start > Use Authorisation Wizard via Internet > Next Then type your authorisation code into the space provided and the internet will generate your software.
