Good Morning!

Here are the sub plans for Tuesday, March 6, 2012
Please feel free to alter or change whatever you feel necessary or if there is simply not enough time to complete something don’t feel bad about leaving it out.

*** FYI - I have two students with peanut allergies Matthew Sanguiliano and Noah Rochaleau so please be aware of this. There shouldn’t be a problem because we are not having special snacks in class that might be compromising but I thought you should know.

These students are reliable, please ask them any questions that you may have: -Noelle Texiera -Ellie McGee -Harrison Taylor 8:10 – 8:15 Arrival and unpack. There is a morning routine list on the wall above the large white board please make sure they go through and complete each item. 8:15-8:30 Morning Work – In pocket chart on white board. 8:30 - 8:45 Morning Meeting - Please call students to the rug and to make a circle. You lead our morning meeting. Please sit in the white chair. 1. GREETING: We always begin Morning Meeting with a greeting. Say hello to the student to your right, shake their hand, and then they return the greeting to you and pass it on. 2. Stand for the Pledge of Allegiance 3. Calendar work I read the history for today on the calendar, and then talk about how many days we have been in school and how many remaining, read the word of the day, discuss today’s schedule on the board, and then read the morning message on the easel. 4. Sharing One the morning message up to 3 people can sign up to share. Call them one at a time to stand and share with the class. Once they are finished sharing they say, “ I am ready for questions, comments, and connections. 8:45 – 9:30 Library 9:30 – 10:15 Word Study – Student’s will complete a word sort in their word study notebooks (kept inside their desks) for words where suffixes are added. This is a tricky sort because they have to determine if they double the final consonant before adding the suffix – if the final vowel sound is short they double the final consonant. A teacher’s answer key is on top of the sheets. I would like you to check each student’s sort before

they glue into their word study notebook. Also please encourage the students to work neatly. Anyone who finishes early can read the story “One Grain of Rice” in their “Picture This” book inside their desks. 10:15 Recess 10:30 – 11:15 Science – Today the students are finishing up making the pegboard harps that we started making yesterday. They are working with a partner and making a 4 stringed harp using the materials on the science table. The teacher directions are marked in the teacher’s guide. After they make the harp have them explore with their new instrument and see how the pitch is different with the different strings. Then they will complete the Lesson 10 sheet in their science notebooks. If they complete all of this, they can work on a science activity sheet at their desks and then read a science book independently.

11:30 – 12:00 Math - Students can choose a math game from the Math Menu to play *Luke G., Max, and Mackenzie are going to go with Kathy Levesque to work on math. 12:00 - 12:45 Recess and then lunch

**Be sure students wash their hands before lunch. 12:45 – 1:00 Read Aloud – Book is marked **Max, Mackenzie, Grace M., and Luke G. will go to work with Mrs. DiFolco from 12:45 to 1:30. 1:00 – 1:30 Individualized Daily Reading time – They each bring book boxes to desk and read their current IDR Book silently. At about 1:25 please have the students go into their Reader’s Notebooks and take out their Weekly Independent Reading Log. We do this every week so they know what this is. Please have the students write 2 sentences sharing their thinking about their reading in the Friday box. We didn’t finish last weeks sheet so I combined it with this week. After they fill out the Friday box have them reflect upon their week of reading and write about what they learned about themselves as a reader and then what their goal is for next week. 1:35 – 2:25 Math Workshop – see packets 2:25 Pack-up – Stack chairs, get mail from mailbox, place coat and backpack on their desks so they are all ready to go home.

2:30 Lineup to go home. *The dismissal schedule is hanging up next to the door and by now most students know when and where they need to line up. Thank you so much. Have a great day.
