Practice:

Develop a theory of action for your program

Key Action: Create a logic model to explicitly connect your activities
and goals

SAMPLE MATERIAL: Draft Logic Models for Two Magnet Programs

Purpose: Reviewing these two examples of program logic models may provide
ideas and insights about how to develop your own logic model.

Note: Go to the web page “Develop a Theory of Action for Your

Program” to watch a video of a district administrator from Guilford
County and a researcher from the Education Alliance at Brown
University, talking about creating and using one of these sample logic
models.

Source: These magnet program logic models were developed by staff of The
Education Alliance at Brown University, which serves as the external
evaluator for Palm Beach County, FL and Guilford County, NC. These
two districts received federal Magnet Schools Assistance Program
(MSAP) funding in 2007. These draft logic models were submitted as
part of the 2008 interim report for rigorous evaluation.
