LESSON PLAN
Date: JAN 11, 2009
Teachers: Sis. Amelia Sis. Siulan
Theme: EPHOD: Vision
Lesson Title: WHICH WAY TO GO?
Objective: By the end of the lesson, students must understand the need for direction in
their life and that the best direction to take is where God is leading them to go.

• Action Plan: To emphasize on the importance of being a student of

God’s Word (Reading and studying the Bible).
Opening Activity:
Scripture Passage / Numbers 9:15-23, Exodus 40:34-38
Bible Story:
The Cloud Above the Tabernacle
---------------------------------------
REMINDER TO THE TEACHER:
*The story will be summarized here but remember when teaching, TEACH
USING THE BIBLE (hold your bible, not this lesson plan; read from the bible,
not from this lesson plan). This is just a guide. Remember we want to
encourage the kids to read the bible, to learn the stories for themselves.
--------------------------------------
• The Israelites left Egypt after many years of slavery.
• Moses was their leader.
• They were headed towards Canaan (Promised Land).

• The Lord made them take the long way towards Canaan, taking forty
years before they arrived there.
• For forty years, they traveled in the desert.

• The Lord gave them directions and rules to follow which was for their
own good.

• The Israelites, led by Moses, knew how to get to where they were
going by following the cloud which was above the tabernacle (where
the presence of the Lord dwelt).

• (At this point, let the children take turns reading the story in Numbers
9:15-23). Teacher, make sure you explain the story even after the kids
read it, to be sure that they understand.

Discussion Questions: 1. What did the cloud represent?

The cloud represented God’s presence (Exo.40:34-35)
2. The Israelites continued in their journey only when the cloud moved.
*Let kids share their What do you think might happen if they went ahead of the cloud?
answers first. • They will not get to where they wanted to go (Canaan).

• They will most probably get lost because they don’t

know the way.
• They will be in danger because they are away from God’s
presence and protection.
• They will be in danger because they did not obey the
Lord’s command to follow the cloud.
Application: • Like the Israelites, we need to follow God wherever He is leading us.
• When we follow God’s leading, we are taking the BEST and
SUREST road to success.

• We may not have a cloud to follow but we have the Bible to lead us.

• The Bible is God’s Word – it has lots of promises, advices, and

commands for us to follow.

• We need to read it, study it, memorize it, and apply it.

• That’s our cloud!

----------
• Do you want to be a good boy/girl?
o Read and know what the Bible says!
• Do you want to be blessed?
o Read the Bible to know how!
• Do you want to have peace? Joy?
o Know how to have it by reading what the Bible says about it!
Memory Verse: Psalm 119:105
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.”
-------------
The Bible lets us see where we are going. It shows us what we need to
change, what sin we need to ask forgiveness for, what to do to put a smile on
God’s face. If you want to follow God, read His Word. But don’t just read it,
do it!
Lesson Retention *Refer to lesson retention activity page provided below. Copy on the board or
