Honors and Achievements 2011 - Sigma Tau Delta Member: English Honors Society 2011 - MACHA Silver Champions (Bradley Hockey) 2009 - Awarded the Hiram College English Department Book Award 2009 - John Hartzmark Commitment Award established by Women’s Basketball Team at Hiram College 2008 - Selected to present own research paper at 2nd Annual Undergraduate Literary Conference at Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove, PA. 2005 - John Hartzmark Most Valuable Manager Award established at The Orme School Experience 2010 to 2012 - Assistant Coach for Bradley University Club Hockey Team Was part of coaching staff that won the 2011 MACHA Silver Championship and the Championship of the Silver South Division. Coached goalies and defensemen; assisted with practice, drills, and scouting reports; and authored post-game summaries under the title “The Spense Report” which were posted on the home page of the Bradley Braves Hockey website. 2009 to 2011 - Student Manager for Bradley University Division I Varsity Basketball Team Filmed games and practices, and inputted those films into the XO’s film system database. Set up for practices and games for the NCAA Division 1 men’s basketball program. Gained a rapport with the other managers and coaching staff in order to assist them and insure that everyday operations went smoothly. Was licensed and drove 10-passenger van to and from specified home games. 2009 and 2011 (summer) – Hockey Instructor at Midtown Educational Foundation Center for Boys, Chicago, Illinois Taught inner city 7th to 9th graders the basic skills of hockey, including how to use basic offensive and defensive strategies; positioning; and teamwork. Assisted in integrating weekly virtue into the sport and everyday life, e.g., excellence, selfcontrol, and fortitude.

2004 to 2009 - Student Assistant Coach for Hiram College Football Assisted Offensive Line and Linebackers with both the offensive and defensive coordinators; ran or helped run practice, develop practice plans and drills; helped on game day by working on game plan and documenting plays; assisted in game preparation by breaking down film and writing scouting reports; assisted in recruiting efforts by attending recruiting fairs, meeting with players and finding potential recruits in North-Central Ohio and other Midwestern States, Arizona, and Germany; and helped players with schoolwork. 2006 to 2009 - Student Assistant Coach for Hiram College Women’s Basketball Team Helped run practice; scouted video of opponents and recruits; scouted local high schools, showcases, and tournaments; recorded game day statistics and other information and provided reports to head coach; assisted with player development and game planning; participated in team meetings; and gave pre- and post-game speeches. My commitment motivated the head coach to establish an award in my honor.
