Part I Define the following terms found in Week One and Week Two readings: Term Diversity Definition Diversity is the appreciation and recognition of the many different characteristics that make each individual unique. Diversity is what makes individuals different from each other. Ethnocentrism is the belief in the superiority of one's own ethnic group.
Melting pot is diverse racial or ethnic groups or both, forming a new creation, a new cultural entity. A melting pot is a place where different ethnic groups, races, cultures, or individuals can assemble together as a whole.

A minority group is a subordinate group whose members have significantly less control or power over their own lives than do the members of a dominant or majority group. Another definition of a minority group is a culturally, ethnically, or racially distinct group that coexists with but is subordinate to a more dominant group. Emigration is leaving a country to go settle in another.



Immigration is coming into a new country as a permanent resident. Culture is

Part II Answer each question in 250 to 350 words: 1. What are some of the ways groups of people are identified? People are identified in a lot of different ways but mainly they are identified by gender, race, ethnicity, and religion. People can also be identified in other ways like age but a lot of people identify people by their looks instead of their ethnicity or race. People can identify others by their gender which is obviously whether they are male or female. These days it can sometimes be hard to tell whether one is male or female but that is beside the point. People also can identify others by their race which is whether a person is white, African American, Chinese, Asian, etc. People

Why do people label and group other people? People label and group other people because they might not have the same views as that particular person. . etc. or a religion of their own creation. Finally. People also label others because some people have different skin color or race than them and they are stuck in the past when a majority of people were racist. It also gives everyone a story to tell about their religion or where their family comes from. When you judge someone by the color of their skin it is wrong and a lot of people don’t realize that they probably have ancestors from the same place as the person they are judging or they might have family members that are married to someone from the same place as the person they are judging. their looks. skin color. sports. gender. Muslim. 2. movies. I do not feel that it is right for others to label or group others based on their skin tone. Just because someone has a different color of skin or a different religion than you does not mean that they are any different from you. A lot of people are stubborn and judge others that do not have the same beliefs as them or people that worship a different “God” than them. or their family history because that is what makes everyone so unique and different from one another. All these things (race. and religion) are what make people who they are and makes people unique.Appendix A ETH/125 Version 7 2 can be identified by their ethnicity which is the background of their family or their association. Protestant. If we all had the same ethnicity or race then we wouldn’t be very different from each other. ethnicity. their beliefs. cars. Catholic. It does not mean that they don’t share a lot of the same similar interests as you such as music. games. people can be identified by their religion whether they are Christian.
