Biography There are very few artists who know that they were meant for stardom at an early

age, but Demeriese Naima Valier is definitely one of them. She has been singing as long as she could talk and since the age of five she has always known that it was her destiny to become famous doing it. She started singing in her church choir at the age of eight and participated in numerous talent shows in her area. ...When she was ten she started playing the trumpet and continues to do so until this day. Demeriese is a graduate of West St. Mary High School in Baldwin, LA. While in high school she participated in Gospel Choir, Concert Choir, and Band. After high school, Demeriese attended Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, LA. While at Southern, Demeriese majored in music (vocal performance) and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music. She was a member of the prestigious Southern University Concert Choir with whom she has performed with all over the country, including Carnegie Hall. She was also a member of the world renown Southern University Jazz Ensemble with whom she has performed with at the New Orleans Jazz and Herritage festival. She has also had leading roles in Southern University Opera Workshop productions of Carmen (title role), Cosi Fan Tutte (Dorabella), and The Mikado (Katasha). Demeriese is still a student of classical music and plans to pursue multiple advanced degrees in the subject. Demeriese Naima Valier's life and she credits her parents in the development of her style. Her mother is a classically trained pianist and vocalist and her father, is among many other things, a DJ and and avid collector of music by black artists from the 1930's to the present. There were always different types of music being played in her household. It was her mother who introduced her to Jazz artists such as Nat King Cole, Dinah Washington, and Nancy Wilson. Her mother also introduced her to opera. Her father made a point of making sure that she and her siblings were aware of their musical heritage and introduced her to Blues and Soul artist such as B.B. King, Roy C., O.V. Wright, Ruth Brown, and Jackie Wilson. As a young child the popular artists of the day that she liked the most were Whitney Houston, Anita Baker, Mariah Carey, and Janet Jackson. During Jr. High and High school she fell in love with Erykah Badu and Jill Scott. Being immersed in such a diverse musical environment was a major influence in the development of Demeriese Naima Valier's style, but genetics has had a major role in it also. Her mother and all of her aunts and uncles sing and/or play the piano and her paternal grandfather Alton Valier was a producer, song writer, DJ, and radio station program director in Houston during the 1950's and 1960's. He penned hits for Rock and Soul music legends such as Chuck Berry and Peggy Scott Adams. Demeriese wrote every song on her forthcoming album Soul Beautiful. She considers this album to be the beginning of her contribution to continuing her family's musical legacy. One year after graduating from college Demeriese and her father/manager Ronald Valier started their record label Jamboree Music of which she is the first artist and Vice President of Artist & Repertoire. It will be interesting to see if The Enchantress's spell will work. Demeriese jokes that she wrote the song so she could "conjure her up a man" that makes her feel the way she's singing about in her song. Starting off with only a string bass and Naima scatting. It's been said by wise men all over that words have immense power.The producer. Breathless is an internalized dialog set to music that explores a whirlwind of emotions from confused. to aroused. Klark Kent. Demeriese unexpectedly takes you to church at the bridge. so it was shocking to her that she could even write a song like Breathless. Sort of like the same way you feel when you're falling head over heels in love with someone. I thought it was catchy and that it had an air of truth to it.. It resonated deep within me. I was at the lowest point in my life."
