Live Wright Applying for a Community Transformation Grant - Small Communities Program!
This is a federal grant, through the Centers for Disease and Control (CDC) and is due by July 31st. Our focus for this grant is to build upon our work done during the Statewide Health Improvement Program (SHIP). We plan on applying for $400,000 over two years. A requirement for this grant is to provide letters of commitment from our Community Leadership Team members and also have our partners write letters of support. Please consider helping us and submitting a letter. A template will be shared to assist you in developing a letter. We ask that these are submitted by July 26th.

Live Wright: Healthy School Initiative

Our July 12th strategic planning meeting has provided us with some vision and direction. The meeting was setup to generate an idea or two for us to work on, for both nutrition and movement. The discussion didnt allow us time to develop ideas for the movement component of our initiative. We will revisit this soon, but for now have 2 tasks at hand. With the help of subcommittees, we will be working to; 1. Create a healthy food/reward/expert list, to be disseminated to local school districts. 2. Work with local school districts in an effort to have a school garden on at least one school site within each school district. If you would like to help Live Wright and be on a subcommittee, you are welcome to. Just let us know, so that we can add you to the email list(s).
