Percentage : By a certain percent we mean that many hundredths. thus ,x percent means x hundredths, written as x % To express x % as a fraction : We have , x % = x/100 Thus, 15 % = 15/100 = 3/20 24%= 24/100 =6/25 To express a/b as a percent : etc. We have a/b = [a/b*100] %.

Increase or decrease is always in absolute terms whereas percentage increase /decrease is expressed in percentage terms. percentage increase /decrease is calculated with respect to the base (previous) value unless mentioned otherwise. percentage increase /decrease = increase/decrease \base value * 100

Note: To convert any fraction a/b to rate percentage, multiply it by 100 and put % sign. Altematively to convert a rate per cent to a fraction , divide it by 100 and delete the % sign.
