My Philosophy

I offer a full day of play-based preschool for children ages 2-5. My passion is in creating a beautiful, enriching place for children to spend their days. More than anything, I want to give every child a chance to have an unhurried, joyful childhood . Our daily focus is on outdoor play and open-ended learning. I shy away from strictly academic learning. Children blossom when they feel love, acceptance, structure, and are given the space and materials to explore their natural interests. When asked what early childhood philosophy I follow, I will always admit that I building on the light table take what I love, and leave behind what doesnt mean much to me. I am inspired by the creative expression and community that shines through in a Reggio Emilia environment. I borrow the authentic tools and work of Montessori. I believe wholeheartedly, as many proponents of the Waldorf approach do, in the childrens environment itself being a calming, natural, home-

My Environment
I want my home to be like a second home for each child in my care. The sunny pumping water in the main floor of our sandbox 1907 farmhouse is dedicated to the children who spend their days with me. I strive to make all areas child-friendly. Over 1000 square feet of the indoor space and 3000+ square feet outdoors is designed for the childrens use. Indoors, youll find a rotating selection of quality wooden toys, puzzles, and learning games. The bookshelf is full of books, and we read daily. We have a dress-up collection, dolls, a sensory table, and a Duplo table. We often dance, enjoying our wooden xylophone play our musical instruments, or act out a book with a puppet. In the kitchen, we have activities available daily (pouring, transferring, scooping) as well as art materials accessible during much of the day. Outdoors, we have a 200 square foot sandbox complete with a tree tunnel and a our main playroom boat, a wooden play structure with swings and a slide, tricycles, and a large playhouse.
