Mechanism of Action Hydrocortisone Sodium Succinate is an adrenocortical Steroid with salt-retaining properties. Its synthetic analog form is mainly used for antiinflammatory effects in different disorders in many organ systems. It is also used as replacement therapy for adrenocortical deficient patients.

Indications -Allergic disorder -Collagen disease -Disorder of endocrine system -Disorder of eye -disorder of Gastrointestinal tract -Disorder of Respiratory System -Disorder of skin -Bells palsy -Breast Cancer -Burn -Cystic Fibrosis -Fever due to malignancy -Prostate Cancer -Severe acute respiratory syndrome

Contraindications -Fungal infections, systemic; use not recommended Unless controlling a drug reaction. -Hypersensitivity to Hydrocortisone or any other component of the product. -Intrathecal Administration; Serious medical events have been reported

Adverse Reaction Dermatologic: Atrophic condition of skin, impaired wound healing, sin ulcer. Endocrine Metabolic: Disorder of Protein Metabolism Gastrointestinal: Disorder of gastrointestinal tract. Musculoskeletal: Fracture of bone, muscle weakness, Osteoporosis Neurologic: Headache, raised intracranial pressure Ophthalmic: Cataract, Glaucoma Respiratory: Pulmonary tuberculosis

Nursing Responsibilities -Advise patient to avoid vaccines during therapy unless approved by a Physician. -This drug may cause hyperglycemia. Advise patients to report difficulties in glycemic control. -Instruct patients on prolonged therapy to report blurred vision or signs/symptoms of cataracts, infection, or hypothalamicpituitary-Axis (HPA) suppression ( fatigue, depression, anxiety, hyperglycemia, muscle weakness ,immunosuppression symptoms)

1gram IV Every 12 hours

Cefuroxime Axetil is a bactericidal semisynthetic cephalosporin that binds to essential target proteins, thereby, preventing the synthesis of bacterial cell walls.

-Acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis -Acute otitis media -Bronchitis, acute Secondary bacterial infection -Gonorrhea, Uncomplicated -Impetigo -Tonsillitis - Pharyngitis

-Obtain a careful history before giving/initiating therapy to determine previous use and reactions to penicillin or cephalosporin. -This drug may cause diarrhea, nausea and vomiting. The patient should be monitored by his/her watcher. -Assess patient for renal dysfunction and adjust accordingly. -Observe patient for signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis (rash, pruritus, laryngeal edema and wheezing)

Salmeterol Xinafoate is a long-acting beta (2)-adrenergic agonist. It stimulates adenyl cyclase resulting in increased intracellular cyclic AMP level which in turns triggers smooth muscles relaxation.

- Instruct patient to report immediately if shortness of breath is not relieved by medication or is accompanied by diaphoresis, dizziness, palpitations, or chest pain. - Advise the patient to rinse mouth with water after using the nebulizer to minimize Dry mouth.

Metformin hydrochloride is an oral antihyperglycemic agent. It lowers both basal and postprandial glucose levels in type 2 Diabetes patients through several mechanisms: Decreases hepatic glucose production, decreases intestinal absorption and increases peripheral glucose uptake and utilization by improving insulin sensitivity.

-Instruct patient to report signs/symptoms of lactic acidosis. -Patients should take tablets with meals and extended-release tablets with the evening meal. -Advise patient to maintain adequate hydration to prevent renal dysfunction. -Patient should not drink alcohol while taking this drug.
