## 1. (a) Discuss the electrical characteristics of an Op-amp in detail.

(b) Draw an ideal voltage transfer curve of an Op-amp.

## 2. (a) In the circuit (figure 2b) it can be shown in that Vo = a1 V1 + a2 V2 + a3 V3 .

Find the values of a1 , a2 , a3 . Also find the value of Vo if
i. R4 is shorted circuited.
ii. R4 is removed.
iii. R1 is shorted circuited.
(b) Design an averaging circuit for 4 DC input’s. [10+6]

1. (a) Define common mode rejection ratio (CMRR)? Explain why for an

1. (a) Broadly classify the integrated circuits for a wide range of applications.
(b) What is a practical Op-amp? Draw its equivalent circuit.

regulator.
(b) Describe the operation of an IC based negative voltage regulator. Give few
applications.
(c) Describe the principle of operation of a peak detector with wave forms.[6+6+4]

3. (a) Derive the expression for frequency of oscillation of a RC phase shift oscillator
and explain the operation of the circuit.
(b) Design a second order low pass filter at a high cut off frequency of 1 KHz.
Derive the transfer function of the above filter. [8+8]

(b) Explain the function of ‘reset’ pin. [14+2]

5. (a) Explain the operation of an Op-amp based weighted resistor Digital to Analog
converter through a neat circuit diagram.
(b) Design a 4-bit weighted resistor DAC whose full-scale output voltage is -
10Volts. Assume Rf = 10 KΩ and logic ‘1’ level as + 5volts and logic ‘0’
level as 0 volts. What is the output voltage when the input is 1011.

6. (a) Draw the circuit of two input NAND gate with totem-pole output and do the
static analysis when output is HIGH & Output is low.

## 1. (a) What is an Op-amp? Why it is called so?

2. (a) Draw the basic circuit diagram of an Op-amp differentiator and explain its
operation and stability.
(b) Design a monostable multivibrator with trigger pulse shaping which will drive
a LED on for 0.5 sec each time it is pulsed. [8+8]

3. (a) Draw the I order/II order band pass filter circuit with its frequency response
curve. Explain its working.
(b) Derive the expression for the transfer function of second order High pass filter.

4. (a) Explain the operation of Monostable multivibrator using 555 timer. Derive
the expression of time delay of a Monostable multivibrator using 555 timer.
(b) Design a Monostable multivibrator using 555 timer to produce a pulse width

5. (a) A counting type ADC uses a 8bit DAC. The MSB of DAC output voltage is
+5V
i. If the analog I/P voltage is +6.85 V, what will be the R-2R ladder o/p
voltage when the clock stops?
ii. What is the no.of clock pulses that occur between the release of reset and
stopping of the clock?
(b) Calculate the values of the LSB, MSB at full scale output for an 8 bit DAC
for the 0 to 10 V range. [5+5+6]

6. (a) Compare different logic families and mention their advantages and disadvan-
tages?
(b) Which is the fastest non-saturated logic gate? Draw the circuit and explain
