Telethon Raises Over $1 Million

Hundreds of people made donations and pledges. And when the final total was announced, over $1 million had been raised to prevent child abuse in West TN. The 29th annual Circles of Hope Telethon, benefitting the Exchange Club Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse, was held Sunday, August 12th at the Carl Perkins Civic Center in Jackson, TN. A record breaking $1,114,441 was raised this year, breaking the record set during the 2011 telethon. Dozens of local personalities, singers, musicians, and volunteers helped make this years telethon a huge success. This years theme was It Is Time to Talk About Child Abuse. The stage and sets at the Civic Center were decorated with various clocks, watches, and timepieces. ... ...The Circles of Hope Telethon is the centers largest fundraiser each year. All funds raised are used to provide programs and services to the children and families of West Tennessee.

Annual Exchange Club Scholarship Awarded


As part of its ongoing commitment to area youth The Jackson Exchange Club honored a high school graduate on Tuesday August 21st with the annual Jackson Exchange Club Scholarship in the amount of $2,000. Doris Bobbitt is a 2012 graduate of

North Side High School and will be attending Union University in the fall. This scholarship is presented to a graduate who attained high levels of scholastic achievement, community involvement and leadership.

Hal Meredith Scholarship Fundraiser


Fun was had by all those that attended last weeks meeting and joined in on the Hula Hoop Contest and Bingo games to help raise money for our local scholarship fund in memory of past Exchangite Hal Meredith. Diane Abbott, Tammy Boyd, and the rest of the Social Committee created a fun atmosphere that started out with a Hula Hoop Contest. New member Kristi Donaldson was the overall winner! Next up...Bingo! All members could participate in this and after an initial Bingo was won by new member Stephanie Riley, our cover-all winner was Judy Renshaw! Thanks to everyone who participated and helped to raise over $1200 for our scholarship fund.
