Santos Alberto Hernandez Martinez Career: English major.

Subject: Management of Technological Resources for the Teaching and Administration of the English Language. Topic: TPI questionnaire. Year: 2012 Introduction: The teaching perspective inventory is a great tool to know our teaching perspectives and we can see those perspectives in a professional manner, because it was created by making experiment with real teachers and professors and most of them hold one or two perspectives. In this webpage we can find useful information about the different teaching perspective such as Transmission. Apprenticeship, Developmental, Nurturing, and Social Reform; and know well how we are teaching and what we are giving to our students and probably leave out useless practices in the classroom. As teacher this tool is very important not only because you can realize how you teach but because it will give you a new teaching perspective to explored. As a teacher, I strongly consider this questionnaire and the results very interesting and convenience, because I can analyse my teaching perspective and continue improving the good practices in the classroom and avoiding those things that can be harmful for my students. I have the highest scores in Transmission, Apprenticeship, and Nurturing. The original scores of the TPI questionnaire:

I will describe the 3 main perspectives I have as teacher: Transmission: I have realized in the result that one of my teaching perspectives is Transmission. This means that I set clear the objectives and goals of the course I am teaching and make everything clear and understandable the very first time so in this way I will avoid misunderstandings or failures during the teaching-learning process. And also showed me that I have to take systematically the learning process of my students, start with the basic to the difficult and providing the right feedback to them in the right time. Furthermore, I like to leave in my students a memorable learning process, not teaching a regular class but teaching a meaningful class for their own benefit and encourage them to learn more by their own. Apprenticeship: this teaching perspective is very interesting for me because it says a lot about the way I teach. I take the Teaching-Learning process seriously and I am always looking for new methods or techniques how to fulfill the needs of my students. I practice what I teach in the classroom and I like to use simple and practical examples to my students to make much easier their learning and show them that at the end everything is possible. I always try to know the skills and capabilities of my students to adjust my teaching methods to them. I learn from my students and they learn from me that why in every course one of my goals is to make my students more independent learners. Nurturing: I was surprised when I saw this teaching perspective in my profile because in fact, I am applying this every course with my students. I always make them learn and succeed without feeling fear to fail in a task. It really good to know that I am doing the best practices with my students and they realize about the important of motivated them in their learning process. I always challenge my students to continue learning and achieve great result with my guidance. I do not give credit to little and big effort from my students and I show them that what they have achieved is because of their effort and skills rather than my benevolence to give certain grade.

Conclusion: I like the way how the TPI questionnaire make you analyze and think about your teaching perspective as teacher or professor, because it is complete in content and useful. I think that every teacher should take this questionnaire as tool of learning not at the beginning of their careers, can be after one or two years of teaching because they can realize if they are achieving their goal as teacher: to give a meaningful and memorable Learning process. I agreed with the result of the TPI questionnaire because in one way or another it tells you what are your strengths and weaknesses and you can learn by reading the different teaching perspective that is the important aspect of the whole survey. In addition, you can take the best practices of every teaching perspective to enhance the teaching experience and make the learning process less hard or tedious.
