I can only say that there is a lot of time before I become sexy,” the 27-year-old said. So, one thing at a time,” she added. Sonam, who is set to go deglam in “Raanjhna”, says while many believe she is experimental with her looks, she has donned a simple avatar in most of her films so far. “Actually, in none of my movies, except for ‘Aisha’ I have been extremely stylish. In this movie ( ‘Raanjhna) it is a little more simpler. This is actually my third movie where I haven’t worn make-up, I am just wearing simple cotton clothes,” said Sonam. “It is just that people tend to remember ‘Aisha’ and ‘I Hate Luv Storys’ as my last really stylish movies. PM highlights economic benefits of Responsible Resource Development in the North
Prime Minister Stephen Harper visited Minto Mine, a copper-gold mine in Yukon, to highlight the economic benefits of responsible resource development in the region and to witness the signing of an agreement that will help Yukon further benefit from resource development. The visit took place during the Prime Minister’s seventh annual Northern Tour, taking place from August 20-24, 2012. “Our Government is committed to ensuring that Northerners benefit from the tremendous natural resource reserves that are found in their region,” said the Prime Minister. “For the benefits to flow, it is necessary to get resource projects up and running in an effective and responsible way and to put agreements in place with territorial Governments to ensure that revenues generated by these initiatives stay up North.” While in Minto, the Prime Minister witnessed the Honourable John Duncan, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development and the Honourable Darrell Pasloski, Premier of Yukon, sign amendments to resource revenue sharing agreements which will ensure a greater portion of the revenues generated from the mining and resource economy in Yukon will be available for use in the territory. These amendments to the resource revenue sharing provisions of the Yukon Northern Affairs Program Devolution Transfer Agreement and The CanadaYukon Oil and Gas Accord, will allow Yukoners to benefit from arrangements similar to those recently agreed to in principle with the Government of the Northwest Territories. These amendments will provide the Government of Yukon with an immediate

Most Indian Business Leaders Feel Top Executives Are Overpaid: Study
Over three-fourth of senior business leaders surveyed in India believe top executives at large public companies are paid “too much”, says a report. Indian businesses strongly support greater shareholder involvement in setting CEO compensation and would rather opt for more transparent machinery, according to Grant Thornton International Business Report. About 70 percent of Indian business leaders (higher than global average of 67 percent) believe shareholders should have greater involvement in remuneration policy for senior executives at large public companies, a survey in the report said. “As much as 78 percent believe that senior executives are paid too much,” it added. “Senior executives have to clearly demonstrate performance, and tangible, measurable value, to the ones who matter most -the shareholders,” Grant Thornton India Partner and Practice Leader, Business Advisory Services Vinamra Shastri said. With respect to Indian executive compensation Grant Thornton, however, said “the proportion of familyowned and family-managed businesses is larger in India. Hence, the opinion of the value that professionals bring, and the rewards they subsequently get, may be lower in some cases.” According to the survey, a significant majority of shareholders -- 89 percent -want executive remuneration at public companies to be closely linked to performance targets.

“Diversity is the one true thing we all have in common. Celebrate it every day. ” -Author Unknown
“In light of executive mismanagement of finances, and negligence of shareholder interest, there is an inevitable and often outspoken demand for greater transparency,” Shastri said. The survey was conducted by Experian in May-June 2012 as part of the Grant Thornton International Business Report, a quarterly global business survey of 3,000 public and private businesses. In India, around 100 businesses participated in this survey.

Driven by India, Nimbuzz Eyes 400 Million Users by 2014
Instant messaging platform Nimbuzz expects the Indian market to be one of the main drivers in touching the 400 million userbase mark in the next two years. The company had recently announced crossing the 100 million user mark across 80

countries, entering the league of top 20 most-used internet platforms in mobile and Web communications space. “With a 100 million strong userbase, the target now is to double userbase each year in the next two years to reach 400 million by 2014-end,” Nimbuzz CEO Vikas Saxena said. “India has been a strong market for us and we have seen strong adoption across platforms, especially Android. While in earlier days, the numbers were coming from the application being pre-bundled, the additions are now coming from people downloading the application on their smartphones,” Saxena said. Nimbuzz counts What’s App, Blackberry messenger, Skype, WeChat and Yahoo messenger as rival platforms across the world. It has received $25 million in venture capital and strategic funding from Mangrove Capital Partners (investors in Skype) and Naspers/MIH (investors in Tencent and Mail. ru). Natalie Wood Death Certificate Lindsay Lohan Invited Robbers Into Officially Changed to Include Home, Victim Suspects “Undetermined Factors”
Natalie Wood’s death certificate has been changed to reflect some of the uncertainties and lingering questions surrounding the actress’ drowning. The document was amended earlier this month and shifts her death from an accidental drowning to “drowning and other undetermined factors.” The document states that circumstances of how Wood ended up in the waters off Catalina Island in November 1981 are “not clearly established.” The changes occur nine months after sheriff’s homicide investigators renewed their inquiry into Wood’s death shortly before its 30th anniversary. Chief of Detectives William McSweeney said the decision to amend the death certificate was made by the coroner’s office. He wouldn’t go into detail. “I would just say undetermined is descriptive,” he said. McSweeney said detectives still have work to do on the case, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that a major Lindsay Lohan is apparently being accused of allowing two dudes who robbed a Hollywood Hills mansion to come inside realized expensive watches and sunglasses were missing. 11.75 Crores on it’s 1st Friday at the box office. After opening to a humongous 32.92 Crores and grossing 14.55 Crores on it’s 2nd Day, Ek Tha Tiger looks pretty steady with 59.22 Crores in it’s pocket,” reports Koimoi.com. “The movie might have seen a steady fall in its last two days but one can surely account that to working days not being huge grossing days. However, Ek Tha Tiger has created a new record at the Indian Box Office. In its 1st weekend (i.e. 1st 3 days run) it has grossed about 59 crores which is the highest ever in Indian history. Post Monday, when the fasting season of Ramadan gets over, there is no saying what collections will the movie make,” adds the website. 2nd day collections “After shattering every record possible to shreds Ek Tha Tiger moved to its 2nd day. As per early estimates the movie would have made 16 crores on it’s Day 2 at the Indian Box Office. Ek Tha Tiger had grossed a humongous 32.92 crores on its Day 1 and its total box office collections till date stands at 48.92 crores,” reported Koimoi.com. “The fall was quite expected as Thursday was a working day and not a holiday unlike Wednesday. However, the

movie is expected to hit the chords again this weekend. There is no doubt that Ek Tha Tiger will prove to be an all time blockbuster at the box office if it sustains its momentum even for a weekend,” added the website. 1st day fever “EkThaTiger biz on Wed is humungous, historic. But wait for Eid celebrations. It will create History again. Picture abhi baaki hain!” Taran Adarsh wrote. “The 1st day box office collections of Ek Tha Tiger can be simply termed in one word as ‘spectacular’. Something like this has never before happened in Bollywood. The movie made an approx. 30 crores (as per early estimates) on it’s Day 1 at the Indian box office. Ek Tha Tiger did not just do good in a few circuits as there is really no circuit where the movie didn’t break apart a set record,” reports Koimoi. com. “Ek Tha Tiger has smashed the opening day collections of Hrithik Roshan’s Agneepath which had amassed a mammoth 23 crores. The movie also broke the much hyped Shahrukh Khan’s Ra.One opening day record of 25 crores. Salman is out to break all the box office records ever set in India,” adds the website.

It’s been three days since Ek Tha Tiger released, and Salman Khan’s latest action film is already breaking all records. Basking in the glory, but not showing it at all, the man takes some time off to talk about the Salman mania. In fact, he insists it’s nothing but a fad which will vanish in no time! State of mind Usually, when a film is a success, you’d be upset and unhappy, right? (Laughs) I am just joking. I feel happy and content. I’m glad people are going to watch the film and like what they see. Number game If the fans come in, the numbers follow. If people like the movie, the numbers will go up. So I don’t concentrate on numbers, I focus on the film instead. Agar aap sirf numbers pe jaaoge, toh phir main cheez bhool jaaoge (If you only think about numbers, you will forget the main thing). Think about the subject and not the marketing of the subject. Being Salman Khan I have no idea. I feel like I am a part of the aam junta (common people). I guess I’m someone who stands for them, I’m perhaps their voice or someone who they think is needed in that position. They believe that Salman Khan is very approachable and can relate to him. So I think that could be the only connect,

Time now for Dhoni to make changes U19 World Cup: Boys in Blue win a thriller against Pakistan and plan for the future
When Mahendra Singh Dhoni takes to the field for the Test against New Zealand starting in Hyderabad on Thursday, hopefully someone would have taken care to ensure that he does so in whites than in the India blue. For without the duo of Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman by his side, the Indian skipper may well have mistaken the game for yet another ODI or T20 tie. That said, it is not as if Dhoni will have unfamiliar faces around him. Within the squad that has been named for the two Test series, only Ajinkya Rahane is yet to make his debut with even someone like Piyush Chawla, inarguably the strangest choice of the selectors, having figured in two Tests already. Still, in a way, the New Zealand series will mark the beginning of a new era in Indian cricket insofar as far as the batting is concerned. The steadying influence of Dravid at number three, the calming effect that Laxman radiated whether at number and Suresh Rainas the way. Of course, Dhoni may not feel it so much in this series, what with the Kiwis having an inexperienced attack but the need would be there when the stronger bowling units of England and Australia come calling. Perhaps what could help is pushing Virender Sehwag down the order to spread out the experience a bit. Sehwag has, in any case, expressed his desire to move back to his original middle order slot many times, and the best time would be now. Just take the case of a settled Sehwag coming across the second new ball rather than fresh up against the first one, now wouldn’t that worry the bowlers a lot more? The Indian think tank should look at it this way. Some changes have been forced on them with the retirements of Dravid and Laxman, why not look at this as an opportunity to make some changes of their own and plan for the future? Indeed, why not. The Indian under-19 cricketers haven’t quite enjoyed the dominance over Pakistan as their senior team has in World Cup matches. In fact, the Indian colts went into their quarterfinal clash against Pakistan in Townsville (Australia) on Monday with the dubious record of having lost five of their last six World Cup matches. After a bruising, nerve-jangling battle, the Boys in Blue walked out of the ground celebrating, having sealed a one-wicket victory to make the semifinals of the World Cup. The 10th wicket partnership of 10 runs between Harmeet Singh and Sandeep Sharma proved crucial in the lowscoring encounter as the Indians struggled to get past Pakistan’s modest total of 136. They will now take on New Zealand, who also clinched a thrilling last-ball win against West Indies in the other quarterfinal of the day. Having narrowly missed out on victories in their last two encounters against Pakistan in the Asia Cup last month - losing one by one run and ending up with a tie in the final - the Indians did not want another one going down to the wire. Things swung in Pakistan’s favour as their pace attack pushed India on the back foot, snaring four wickets for just seven runs in the next four overs. With Pakistan sensing victory and their bowlers breathing fire, Harmeet and Sandeep showed tremendous temperament to did in deep and take their team home.

A contest against Australia brought out the best from Indian stalwart VVS Laxman, who announced his retirement a few days ago, says former Aussie pacer Brett Lee, adding such was his domination that the Hyderabadi seemed to score a hundred every time the two teams duelled. “VVS Laxman’s retirement

knock that Laxman notched up in Sydney in 2004. “One innings I particularly recall is the hundred he got against Australia in 2004 at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The match ended in a draw but his innings of 178 was world class,” Lee wrote. India notched up a score in excess of 700, thanks to mentioned that his rivalry with Laxman had commenced during the duo’s under 19 days. “I want to congratulate VVS Laxman on a fantastic cricketing career. It is obviously a big call when you hang up your boots as I found out over the last couple of months,” he has added.

five or six or even in the dressing room, cannot be replaced easily, albeit there is no doubting that no one is indispensable or irreplaceable. For Dhoni, who doesn’t play much first class cricket these days, his longer format experience being restricted to the biggest stage of all, Test cricket, the responsibilities will only grow in the absence of these veterans. He no longer has the luxury of batting around the likes of Dravid and Laxman, instead he will have to show the Rahanes, Cheteshwar Pujaras

India looked to have the upper hand right from Ball One of the match. After India lost the toss, paceman Sandeep Sharma struck big, dismissing Sami Aslam - who had scored centuries on both the Asia cup matches against India - and then Imam-ul-Haq in the first over of the innings. Skipper Babar Azam fought hard with a gritty half-century to prove that his decision to bat first was right, but Ravikant Singh’s seam (3/43) tore apart the Pakistani batting and left them tottering at 98 for eight. Batting at No. 9, Ehsan Adil struck four lusty sixes to take the total to 136. As it often happens in lowscoring encounters, late cameos make a huge difference to the result of the game and Adil’s 35 almost did that. “We knew one of the batsmen would get going. 15-20 runs can be very crucial but we never thought that it would get so tight for us in the end,” Unmukt conceded. Things could have been even uglier for India had Aparajith

and Vijay Zol not put up a crucial 66-run partnership for the fourth wicket after they came together when the scorecard read 8 for three. The Indians were rocked by the searing pace of Adil and Ziaul-Haq. Unmukt had no hesitation in conceding that batting needed a lot of work. “Sandeep bowled well and Ravikant and Passi were equally good. Fielding was also top notch but our batting has to click. We need to work on our mental strength on these pitches which are good for pace bowling. These tracks are good to bat on once one gets off to a start. It’s more about a mental thing than the pace and bounce in the pitches,” the Indian skipper remarked. However, the players took their minds off serious talk and celebrated their hard-fought win. “For now the coach has told us not to think about the semifinal against New Zealand. We will start discussing from Tuesday,” Unmukt said. India play for a spot in the final on Wednesday.

from international cricket is a big decision. He was one of India’s best batsmen and certainly one of the toughest opponents I have faced. Whenever Laxman played against Australia, it brought out the best in him. “We have seen some exceptional innings over the years from him and he seemed to get a hundred every time he played against Australia,” Lee wrote. Lee is full of praise for the counter-attacking 150-plus

Laxman’s knock and Sachin Tendulkar’s double hundred before the match ended in a draw at the SCG. Lee says he totally agrees with his one-time captain Steve Waugh’s quotes about Laxman. “If you get Dravid, great. If you get Sachin, brilliant. But if you get Laxman, it’s a miracle.” “He has a handy technique and he has this amazing ability to pull the ball off his legs for four from any angle,” Lee wrote. The Aussie bowler has also

The Congress in Goa Thursday demanded a ban on the Ekta Kapoor produced film Kya Super Kool Hain Hum, saying the film offended the sensibilities of the Christian community. Addressing a press conference here, Congress spokesperson and legislator Reginaldo Lourenco said that a first information report (FIR) would be filed against Kapoor in Panaji Friday. “We are demanding a ban on the screening of the film because it insults Christians. The FIR will be filed tomorrow,” Lourenco said. A scene in the film, which stars Tusshar Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh, shows another actor, Chunky Pandey (playing the role of a priest), solemnise the wedding of a dog and a bitch. Lourenco raised the issue of a possible ban on the film or censoring the controversial scenes in it during the recentlyconcluded monsoon session of the Goa legislative assembly. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, however, said that the Central Board of Film Certification, the statutory censorship and classification body, functioned under the aegis of the central and not the state government and hence not much could be done by the Goa government.

“This is not under the jurisdiction of the state government because censor board jurisdiction lies with the central government. No religious group should be offended in the film. If you give me a complaint in writing, I will take it up with the board,” Parrikar said. Lourenco said that the Goa government had succeeded in banning “The Da Vinci Code”,

following protests by Christian groups several years back and that the same could be done with “Kya Super Kool Hain Hum”. “Parrikar is making excuses. This is a film which offends the sensitivities of the Christian community,” Lourenco said. Christians constitute 26 percent of the Goa`s 1.4 million population.

Vikram and Vijay upset Lakshmi Rai
It’s known that Vikram is cool and easy going. But director AL Vijay has an image of a serious person. But in a recent interview Lakshmi Rai revealed how naughty the director and the actor are. After finishing a shot for Thaandavam, Lakshmi Rai had casually asked Vikram how many heroines he has in Thaandavam. Vikram took this chance to play a prank on the actress and showed the pictures he took with Reemma Sen, Shriya and Deeksha Seth in his mobile phone to answer her question. After seeing those pictures, Lakshmi Rai panicked and complained to Vikram that she wasn’t even informed that there are so many actresses in Thandavam and that she would not have accepted the film if she had known about this earlier. Acting very surprised Vikram called Vijay and inquired about the issue very seriously. Taking a cue from the actor, Vijay played along. Winter Weight Gain-how Does It Happen And What Can We Do
As winter is approaching I wanted to include a post on gaining weight during the winter months. Winter weight gain is a common complaint of many people. It seems that every winter we add a few pounds, and come summer we don’t lose them all again either. A few of them always stick around, making us a little heavier every year. They seem to be very hard to lose extra pounds! Why does this happen and what can we do? There are many contributing factors. First, it seems likely that we have a genetic disposition to store more fat as winter approaches. Many animals do this and it was probably vital to survival for our ancestors. Extra layers of fat on the body protect us against the cold and then can be used as fuel in the late winter and early spring when food stocks would historically be very low. We probably have a tendency to eat more in the fall, when food is plentiful after harvest time, to help this process along. We may also unconsciously choose foods that are higher in fat content at this time. Hormone levels can also influence our weight gain. The interaction of hormones and other chemicals in the brain can bring about variations in appetite and cravings. Some neurotransmitters can also influence the way we eat. People who are overweight often have low levels of these neurotransmitters and the results can include excessive appetite, depression and sleep disorders. At the same time, the lack of daylight caused by the shortening days during late fall and winter can bring on seasonally affected disorder or winter depression. One of the quickest ways to give a boost to the energy levels and emotions is to eat high carbohydrate foods including sugar treats, chips and cereals that give us a fast blood sugar ‘fix’. So people who feel low in the winter will tend to overeat or eat the wrong foods, leading to weight gain, more depression and a vicious cycle that is hard to break. So altogether there are many reasons why we eat more high carbohydrate foods such as cookies, pies and chocolate in the winter, and of course most of these foods also contain high levels of

fats. The best way to handle this is generally to substitute other foods that are also high in carbohydrate so that we get what our body craves, but which have low fat content and plenty of fiber. This means potatoes, wholegrain bread without butter, wholegrain rice, cereals, and fresh whole fruit. It is also important to take more exercise. Often our physical activity levels drop in the winter and we have a tendency to want to stay home and rest. This is natural when it is cold outside. But we are not cavemen! We have heating in our homes and can be sure that there will still be plenty of food in the stores come February. We do not need to stow fat the way that they did. Sign up with a gym or get a stationary bicycle for the den. Transform those carbs into energy now instead of keeping it on the waistline until spring. Winter weight gain is easily avoidable this way. Is Aishwarya gearing for a Asin takes dig at fellow ‘members of the 100 crore club’ comeback?
Actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who has been on a break from films since she gave birth to daughter Aaradhya in November last year, may just be ready for a comeback. The actor who made barely five appearances in the nine months since her delivery, was spotted at three events in just two days over the weekend. The film industry says that this is feeler enough that the 38-year-old is ready for the silver screen. Ash attended Bollywood cinematographer Ashok Mehta’s condolence meeting on Saturday in Mumbai. The same evening, she was seen at industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s party, held to celebrate designer duo Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla’s 25 years in the fashion industry. And the very next day, the actor created a frenzy in Kochi where she went to inaugurate the store of a jewellery brand she endorses. “Aishwarya is a very intelligent woman. If you look at her career graph, you will notice all her moves have been very well planned. So of course, this sudden increase in her public appearances, too, is well She entered Bollywood with Ghajini (2008), which kicked off the concept of Rs100 crore club. Then Asin went on to work in back-to-back blockbusters Ready (2011), Housefull 2 (2012) and Bol Bachchan (2012), which all crossed the much-coveted mark. But unlike several of her contemporary leading ladies, Asin says she has never tried to extract any publicity out of it. “I’ve been a part of very few films, but they have all been blockbusters,” says Asin. What does she think of other actresses minting it for publicity? “The Rs. 100 crore club talk started with my first film, Ghajini. The whole idea of this benchmark kicked off then. I feel like I’m the founding member of the Rs. 100 crore club, as far as female actors are concerned!” she laughs, adding, “And I have constantly renewed my membership in the club with most of my releases.” Others female leads to have been part of Rs. 100 crore grossing movies are Kareena Kapoor (3 Idiots, 2009), Priyanka Chopra (Don 2, 2011), Sonakshi Sinha

thought out. It’s been more than a year that she has been out of the public eye, so it is the right time for her to be in public eye,” says trade analyst Atul Mohan. Filmmaker Subhash Ghai, who has worked with Ash in his musical hit, Taal, says, “She is an actor with a stature and undying talent and commands her space on the big screen. So it is important for her to stay in touch with showbiz.” Ad guru Prahlad Kakkar, however, thinks otherwise. “I don’t think Aishwarya needs

to resort to such tactics to announce that she is going to make a comeback. She is not someone on which ‘out of mind out of sight’ fits. Having said that, these public appearances surely keep her in the limelight and make sure that people know what she is up to.” Ash recently shot an advertisement for the jewellery brand which featured her looking suspiciously slim, prompting speculation that the pics were airbrushed, considering she had got flak for her post pregnancy weight gain.

(Dabangg, 2010) and Katrina Kaif (Ek Tha Tiger). Ask the southern star why she hasn’t publicised this fact, and she says, “I can’t go out and blow my own trumpet. It’s not in my nature. As an actor, it’s not my job to be bothered about numbers. We should be bothered about the artistic side of filmmaking and leave figures to producers and directors.”

Asin is currently busy with the Akshay Kumar-starrer Khiladi 786. Ask why she only picks comedies, and she says, “It’s just a coincidence that Ready (2011), Bol Bachchan and Housefull 2 were offered to me back-to-back. It wasn’t a conscious decision to do only comedies. But I would love to try other genres too,” says the actor.
