“The only way to get rid of temptation is to yield to it” - Oscar Wilde. We have an idea of a Magazine from a long time covering the Experiences of testing professionals.  S Testers Connect is intended to: a place for software testers who can share their knowledge. Knowledge Sharing is our Aim.

S Testers Connect is the challenge of producing a high-quality Magazine for professional testers involved in testing. The real challenge is to find the right authors with the right themes, the right audience and, last but not least, the supporting community. In the Volume -1, Issue-1, we have posted an article on Browser Compatibility Testing and its tool. The Newsletter was very simple, but with the huge response on visits on the website and newsletter, from this Issue, We are modifying into Digital Magazine with grabbing various articles. We want the support from the readers, Please share the magazine with your friends/colleagues, and it gives strength to Magazine and Testers community. We hope to get the support of the global testing community by asking them to visit to the www.testingeduindia.blogspot.com subscribe to it and make the magazine„s website known to their contacts. ISTQB-BCS Certified Tester Foundation Level
The ISTQB-BCS Certified Tester Foundation Level is ideal for all who have an interest in understanding the basic concepts of software testing and whilst it is principally aimed at anyone involved in software testing it is also appropriate for anyone who wants a basic understanding of the subject.

Entry Requirements:
There are no formal requirements for entry to the course although the candidate should have a basic working knowledge of IT and it is recommended that all candidates attend a training course run by an accredited Training Provider.

Who is it aimed at?
The certificate is principally aimed at anyone involved in software testing. This includes people in roles such as testers, test analysts, test engineers, test consultants, test managers, user acceptance testers and software developers. This Foundation Level certificate is also appropriate for anyone who wants a basic understanding of software testing, such as project managers, quality managers, software development managers, business analysts, IT directors and management consultants.

Structure of the Exam
    The examination consists of a one hour exam with 40 multiple choice questions. It will be a 'closed book' examination i.e. no notes or books will be allowed into the examination room. If the business language is not English, candidates sitting the examination have a maximum of 75 minutes. The pass mark is 65% (26 out of 40).

Taking the exam online via a computer based examination centre provides you with your exam result immediately. You can book to take the exam at many of the Prometric or Pearson Vue test centers around the world.   Prometric has in excess of 5000 test centers in over 160 countries. Pearson Vue has in excess of 4000 test centers in over 140 countries.

Intermediate Certificate in Software Testing
The Intermediate Certification in Software Testing syllabus has sufficient breadth and depth to stand alone as a next step up from the Foundation certificate. It also provides valuable preparation and an effective bridge for those wishing to move onto ISTQB Advanced level.

Entry Requirements:
The entry requirements for candidates taking the Intermediate Certificate in Software Testing are as follows: Candidates MUST hold the ISEB/ISTQB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing AND EITHER:  OR  have completed an ISEB accredited training course for the Intermediate Certificate in Software Testing have at least 18 months experience in software testing

BUT preferably have all three of the above. It is recommended that all candidates attend a training course run by an accredited Training Provider.

Who is it aimed at?
The Intermediate Certificate in Software Testing is suitable for those who are engaged in any aspect of software testing and is aimed at those who seek a more practical approach to the core software testing material covered at Foundation level.

Structure of the Exam
  The examination consists of a one hour exam with 25 scenario-based multiple choice questions. It will be a 'closed book' examination i.e. no notes or books will be allowed into the examination room.

If the business language is not English, candidates sitting the examination have a maximum of 75 minutes. The pass mark is 60% (15 out of 25).

Advanced Certificates
The Advanced level qualifications are aimed at individuals who have achieved an advanced point in their software testing careers. Each exam handles a different aspect of software testing and builds on the Foundation and Intermediate certifications with more practical and specific application of the broader theory.

Successful completion of the ISTQB-BCS Certified Tester Foundation Level is a prerequisite to taking an Advanced Certificate examination and it is suggested that candidates have a minimum of 3 years testing experience. Candidates will find the Intermediate Certificate a useful bridge between Foundation and Advanced. The Advanced level certifications are part of the ISTQB internationally recognised software testing scheme. The next step within this scheme will be Expert level. More details to follow when available.

The Advanced level syllabus has three distinct certifications:
   Advanced Test Analyst Certificate Advanced Test Manager Certificate Advanced Technical Test Analyst Certificate

Passing all three modules allows the candidate to obtain the „Full Advanced Level Testing Professional‟ certification.

Entry Requirements:
Successful completion of the ISTQB-BCS Certified Tester Foundation Level is a prerequisite to taking an Advanced Certificate examination and it is suggested that candidates have a minimum of 3 years testing experience. Candidates may find the Intermediate Certificate a useful bridge between Foundation and Advanced though it is not mandatory. It is recommended that all candidates attend a BCS approved training course run by an accredited Training Provider.

Who is it aimed at?
The Advanced level certifications are aimed at those individuals who have achieved an advanced point in their software testing careers.

Structure of the Exam
      Each examination consists of a three hour exam with 65 multiple choice questions. The Advanced level exam has "pick „n‟ mix" questions which consist of a stem (question) followed by a list of options (minimum 5). The candidate is asked to pick 2 or 3 of the options listed. It will be a 'closed book' examination i.e. no notes or books will be allowed into the examination room. If the business language is not English, candidates sitting the examination have an additional 45 minutes. Each question has a value of 1, 2 or 3 marks, the total available mark for each exam is 100 and the pass mark is 65. The ISTQB Advanced level exams breakdown as follows: o 60% K2 (39 questions) o 25% K3 / K4 standard (16 questions) o 15% K4 complex (10 questions)

Accredited Training Provider
It is recommended that candidates take an accredited training course prior to taking the exam. Statistics show that overall pass rates are higher for candidates who have attended an accredited training course. The training course for each of the Advanced certifications is 5 days in duration (these may not necessarily be continuous days please check with your provider). If you attend an accredited training course, details of the exam can be obtained from your Training Provider.

Certified Agile Tester
This certificate was launched by iSQI in Spring 2011 and is aimed at software testers working in an agile project environment or those interested in agile, such as managers, Scrum masters and developers.

Entry Requirements:
The pre-requisite for this certification is 100% attendance of an accredited training course. There are no formal requirements for entry to the training course, although candidates are highly recommended to have taken the ISTQB / BCS Certified Tester - Foundation Level certification. Candidates who are interested in Certified Agile Tester should also be familiar with the following about testing:     Test Design - EP / BVA / State Transition / Decision tables / Exploratory Basic Test Terminology Understand the difference between functional and non-functional testing including the basic concepts of Performance and Usability testing Performing all the activities associated with the fundamental test process

Who it is aimed at?
Candidates should choose Certified Agile Tester if they are:    moving into an Agile projects performing testing activities already performing testing activities in an Agile project who wish to increase their effectiveness interested in the testing activities within Agile, such as Managers, SCRUM Masters and Developers

The Exam:
The examination is separated into three different parts:    A soft skills assessment on capacity for teamwork (10%) A written exam to demonstrate profound theoretical knowledge (60%) A practical exam where testing skills are put to the test (30%)

The pass mark is 65% over all three assessments and candidates must also obtain 50% in each of the three elements of the examination.

Candidates are required to take an accredited training course prior to taking the exam. Dates of the training courses and exams can be obtained from the accredited training providers.
