Maiocco called the Twenty-Eighth Regular Meeting of the Medford City Council to order at 7:00 P.M at the Howard F. Alden Memorial Auditorium, Medford City Hall.

HEARINGS 12-564CITY OF MEDFORD NOTICE OF A PUBLIC HEARING A Public Hearing will be held by the Medford City Council in the Howard F. Alden Memorial Auditorium, City Hall, 85 George P. Hassett Drive, Medford, Massachusetts, on Tuesday Evening, September 18, 2012, at 7:00 P.M. on a petition from New Feng Shui Inc, d/b/a Blue Fuji, for a Special Permit to amend its Hours of Operation in accordance with Medford Zoning Ordinance Chapter 94, sec. 94-145 to operate extended hours at its business at 38 Salem Street, Medford, MA. MOTIONS, ORDERS AND RESOLUTIONS 12-580-Offered by President Maiocco Be it Resolved that the Medford City Council commend and congratulate Frank and Thelma DeLucia on the wonderful occasion of their 65th wedding anniversary and also congratulate Frank on his 90th Birthday. 12-581- Offered by Councillor Lungo-Koehn Be it Resolved that the Director of the Board of Health, Ms. Karen Rose, report back to the City Council and update us with regard to our request for her to do a walk through of the Police Station and to report back on its condition with an experts opinion. 12-582- Offered by Councillor Lungo-Koehn Be it Resolved that the Director of the DPW, Mr. Jack Buckley, report back to the Council with a list of which sidewalks have been completed with the $500,000 bond which was approved by the City Council approximately 6 months ago. Be it further resolved that we receive a list of those that are in process or to be completed with the bond money. 12-583-Offered by Councillor Penta Be it Resolved that the Craddock Bridge reconstruction be once again discussed 12-584- Offered by Councillor Penta Be it Resolved that the recent decision by the Attorney General's Office regarding the former executive director of the Medford Housing Authority be reviewed. 12-585- Offered by Councillor Penta Be it Resolved that the mayor adhere to the council's position of not raising the water and sewer rates since the water and sewer enterprise account has in excess of a $5,000,000 reserve from taxpayer monies. 12-586- Offered by Councillor Penta and Councillor Marks Be it Resolved that the council review for this years upcoming tax rate determinations with the effects of having an out of city ownership as well as a city owned ownership of non resident owners of residential properties. 12-587- Offered by Councillor Penta and Councillor Marks Be it Resolved that the city's lack of concern for the public safety of all residents who participate in the downtown Medford Square and new million Ring Road areas be discussed again. 2

COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE MAYOR 12-594September 12, 2012 To the Honorable President and Members of the Medford City Council City Hall Medford, MA 02155 Dear Mr. President and City Councillors: I respectfully request and recommend that your Honorable Body appropriate $177,900 from the Sale of Lots and Graves Account to the Cemetery Department Salary Account. This recommended appropriation is requested in accordance with Page 43 of the Fiscal 2013 budget. The Cemetery Department Salary account is reduced each year in anticipation of an appropriation from Sales of Lots and Graves. In addition, I respectfully request and recommend that your Honorable Body appropriate $156,737 from Perpetual Care to the Cemetery Department Expense budget. This recommended appropriation is requested in accordance with Page 44 of the Fiscal 2013 budget.
