CCOU 401: What Would Jesus Think and Do?: Understanding the Way of Christ Dr. Ron Hawkins
Course Description: The popular acronym WWJD reminds us of a helpful tool to use in counseling—consider what Jesus would do, both for the counselor and the client, before proceeding with the problem. In various kinds of cases, you will be challenged to consider what route of care to use. Start by asking yourself the question—what would Jesus do? Course Objectives: At the end of this lesson, you will be to… 1. Understand why it is important that you seek to counsel people the way Jesus would counsel them. 2. Know what Jesus did to prepare for His care-giving ministry. 3. Appreciate your major focus as a care-giver. 4. Know what you must do to imitate Jesus’ care-giving practices. 5. Understand the role of the Holy Spirit in your attempts to care for people. 6. Enumerate the characteristics Jesus demonstrated as He engaged in His caregiving ministry.

Introduction: One of the first steps to biblical counseling is considering how Jesus would approach the situation. When the Holy Spirit comes to live within us, He enables us to understand the heart and nature of Christ.
