MR. GIBBY GORES
Executive Director Center for Youth Advocacy & Networking (CYAN), and Youth Sector Representative, National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC)
Dear Sir: Greetings! The Commission on Population, in collaboration with UNFPA, Family Planning Organization of the Philippines (FPOP), and other government agencies and non-government organizations, is spearheading the Review of the Implementation of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) Programme of Action (PoA). The ICPD PoA is an international consensus forged and signed by about 179 countries worldwide, including the Philippines, in 1994 in Cairo, Egypt to call on each country signatory to promote the integration of population and sustainable development, reproductive health and rights, and women and youth empowerment in the context of human rights and gender equality. The health and well-being of adolescents and young people is one the key issues of all the ICPD thematic concerns. As such, to ensure that the concerns and voices of the young people are considered in the review of the ICPD, a Consultation Workshop with Young People on the Review of ICPD Implementation in the Philippines will be conducted on September 26, 2012 in Metro Manila (specific venue to be announced later). The workshop aims to consult with the young people on the milestones, remaining challenges and issues, and recommended strategies to achieve the ICPD objectives in the country. In view of this, may we respectfully invite you or your representative to attend and participate to this important undertaking. Moreover, may we request your assistance in inviting and mobilizing about 10-20 youth leaders from your network (i.e. member agencies of the NAPC youth sector) to participate to the said activity. Your participation and inputs will surely contribute to an objective and comprehensive assessment of the ICPD status and to the identification of key strategies that can be pursued in keeping with the ICPD promise. Kindly send back the attached Confirmation Slip not later than September 24, 2012 via tel.nos. 5350672/5335122 or email (popcompmo@gmail.com) for us to have a complete list of participants. Thank you very much and we look forward to your active involvement in the ICPD Review process. Very truly yours,

TOMAS M. OSIAS Executive Director
