22nd October 2012 About Milapfest: Milapfest is the UKs Indian Arts Development Trust. which through its wide ranging, year-round activities aims to bring together people of diverse communities to create fresh cultural collaborations that transcend the barriers of language, race, religion & diverse cultural traditions. Milapfest produces a year-round programme of performances, tours and festivals, as well as innovative education projects to support the development of artists. Role Title & Summary: Development Officer Reports to Director of Development Full time Salary 17500 to 21000 per annum depending on experience Main Objectives & Duties: To deliver our new fundraising programme, supported by Arts Council Englands Catalyst Award to Milapfest. The programme focuses on widening our funding profile, in particular individual donations, grants from trusts and foundations, sponsorships and membership schemes. The role of the Development Officer is to spearhead this programme, formulating, delivering and enhancing MIlapfests fundraising plans, in conjunction with the Director of Development and other team members. To manage relationships with existing patrons, donors and members To launch and manage Milapfests new membership programme To maximise the potential of the current patrons scheme by working with trustees, directors and senior staff to recruit, develop and retain patrons To develop and manage key contacts in business and the community To research and develop potential business and corporate donors or sponsors. To maintain effective communications with all relevant contacts for fundraising development. Research and deliver new campaigns, schemes and tiers of giving to enhance Milapfests current pool of donors. Work with colleagues across the organisation to maximise opportunities for cultivation and donor care Develop and maintain an effective fundraising database

The role of Development Officer is not exclusively limited to fundraising and development as described above. Milapfest staff are required to be flexible and perform duties across the range of our activities, to help develop wide ranging skills and experience: the Development Officer will be required to: Work as Event Manager for Milapfest events and activities, to gain an understanding of our core programme, interact with our key clients and patrons, and ensure that our fundraising programmes are publicized in an effective way. Work on projects such as conferences, tours, festivals and fundraising events, to create, manage and deliver events which benefit the role and organization.

Essential qualifications, experience & skills: Educated to degree level as a requirement, a higher degree is desirable Experience of working in fundraising in the charity sector OR arts management or arts marketing Experience of working with databases Project Management Accuracy and attention to detail Confidentiality and ethical gathering of information Excellent oral and written communication skills Excellent IT skills, including online research resources Excellent analytical and research skills

Other Qualities required Ability to work in a team or individually Ability to work under pressure, with excellent time management skills Willingness to work flexibly, to travel and to work outside regular hours as required.
