Volume 2, Issue 1 The Adoption Placement Meeting
The signing of adoption placement papers is the beginning of the legal process of adoption. The adoptive parents, DCFS and the private agency meet to sign the documents that allow the children to become legal members of the adoptive family. The DCFS Social Worker will provide the family with many documents, relating to each child, during this meeting. These documents include information about medical and placement history, birth family history, birth records and any assessments that were completed. In addition all legal and adoptions subsidy (AAP) documents are also provided. It is important for the family to keep these documents in a safe place, as they could be difficult to replace if lost. A copy of the birth records and Health Passport may be helpful to the child’s pediatrician and provide important or unknown information about their health history. In-depth information about the AAP subsidy can also help a family after the adoption has been finalized. Quarterly Statistical Reports Due Statistical reports are now due for Quarter 1 of 2012. All reports need to be submitted to CDSS by April 30, 2012, for the period ending March 31st..
