1.0 Course Description The course deals with software tools and environments; web-page development tools; interactivity on the web; scripting language; the role of applets; human-computer interaction; HCI aspects of web-page design; graphical user interface design; multimedia data technologies; sound and audio, image and graphics, animation and video; tools to support multimedia development; use of passwords and access control mechanisms; domain names and name services; issues for internet service providers; security issues and firewalls; digital signatures. Laboratory exercises are done using Macromedia Flash.

2.0 Course Objectives At the end of the term, the student is expected to be familiar with Internet technologies and multimedia design, development and presentation. Specifically the student should be able to: a. Demonstrate the ability to design and develop multimedia using animation, graphical representation and visual images as its elements, b. Enumerate and discuss the dos and donts of multimedia production, c. Undertake a multimedia presentation at the end of the course.
