State the use of no volt release coil in a dc motor starter. How can we get the speed above the rated value in a d.c. shunt motor? 3.) A 3- induction motor is wound for poles and is supplied from 50Hz system. Calculate the rotor speed when slip is 4%. 4.) Explain the types of stepper motor. 5.) Mention the Starters used to start an Induction motor.

6. (a). Briefly explain the operation of three point starter and relay contactor based starter for DC Motor. (14) (Or) 6. (b) i.Briefly explain the speed control of DC shunt motors. (8) ii.A 250 V DC shunt motor runs at 1000rpm on no-load and takes 5A. The armature and shunt field resistances are 0.2 and 250 respectively. Calculate the speed when loaded and taking a current of 50A. Due to armature reaction the field is weakens by 3%. (6) 7 (a).
