The planet of doom

In a neighbouring galaxy across the universe, there is a planet that is similar to our own. The planet had its own sustainable atmosphere along with an abundance of various life forms and plant life. The planet is set in a small solar system that orbits around a lone star. It is the only planet in that solar system that sustained life. One of the planets life forms evolved into the dominant species over all the other creatures; although they were intelligent they became fools. Throughout the planets history the dominant species engaged one another in tribal warfare in the quest for world dominion and as they evolved, so did their technology and their weapons of warfare. Certain tribal civilizations of the planet

entered into a period of which they called the industrial revolution that led them on the pathway of doom and destruction into a First World War. A few years later the nations of the planet were engaged in a Second World War that was triggered off by the same nation that started the First World War. One nation developed nuclear bombs which they used against the civilian population of its already defeated enemy and the war was brought to a sudden end. The mass devastation that was generated by the Second World War rang out a warning that should have put an end to all wars, but the dominant nations could not settle their differences and they continued on with their quest of world dominion. The dominant nations entered into the age of nuclear and computer technology.

The leading nations entered into an arms race and they developed weapons of mass destruction. Fortunately this was overshadowed by space exploration.

The people of the leading nations lived their lives in greed and vanity while others lived inside poverty and starvation. The inhabitants of the developed nations lived their lives in excessive wealth, showing no regard to the planets environmental ecological system.

The rising level of pollution caused severe damage to the planets ozone layer and the harmful ultra violate rays of their solar star penetrated through the atmosphere and this resulted in mass global warming. Despite being aware of the problem, the planets inhabitants continued to ignore the warning signs.

The question in your mind is what became the fate of the planet? Inevitably the planet met its doom. The mass devastation caused by the Third World War, nuclear holocaust did not wipe out the planet. It was the environmental breakdown of the planets fragile ecological system that inflicted the final blow.

The question in my mind is what would you have done if you had been living on that planet in the latter days?
