Montgomery County Police Department's 90th Anniversary Celebration Community Blood and Food Drive
Please give the gift of life in celebration of 90 years of outstanding service by the men and women of the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) to our community by donating blood and nonperishable food items for the needy. You can honor an Armed Forces Veteran, a Law Enforcement/Fire and Rescue Fallen Hero, or a member of the MCPD who has served with pride during the 90-year history of the Department with your donation of blood and/or food items. What better way to celebrate this milestone of proud tradition and service to our community. Date: Location: Friday, October 19, 2012 Montgomery County Public Safety Headquarters - Conference Room 100 Edison Park Drive, Gaithersburg, Maryland Hours: Sign Up Procedures: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm Reserve your slot online now! Go to, click in blue box to “Make a Blood Donation Appointment” and enter Sponsor ID: 05314796. Go to Donor Login and enter your UserName and Password, click login. Select your preferred time to create an appointment. Walk-in donors will be accepted, but the preferred method is to sign up on line. Be sure to bring a photo ID when you arrive to donate blood. Double up on your fluids 24 hours before the event and eat regular meals. Blood donors are asked to bring two non-perishable food items but you don't have to give blood in order to donate food items for the needy.**

Food Drive Procedures:

**Needed items for the Food Pantry include cold and hot cereal, juice, beans, rice, and other non-perishable food items.

Please consider participating in the 90th Anniversary Celebration drive as our goal is to have 90 donors give the gift of life by donating blood and to share the spirit of the upcoming holidays by donating food items for the needy. All food items will be donated to the Mid-County United Ministries Captain Joseph A. Mattingly Food Pantry, located in the Mid-County Service Center, 2424 Reedie Drive, Wheaton, Maryland. The Food Pantry is named in honor of Captain Mattingly, a 28-year veteran Montgomery County Police officer, who was tragically killed in the line of duty on September 13, 2003 resulting from a single police vehicle crash. Captain Mattingly, assigned to the 4th District - Wheaton Station, was known for his community service and outreach efforts as well as having a big heart to help underprivileged struggling community members. His goal was to establish a communitybased food pantry to help those in need. As such, his goal was achieved
