Finding Information for Tourism

Books The best way to find books for Tourism is by using Find it at Lincoln. The main classification number for Tourism books is: 338.479 and these can be found on the first floor of the library. Other areas also include: 306.4812 Leisure 790.0904 Sport and Leisure 796.069 Sports Management Journals All journals are shelved on the third floor of the library in alphabetical order. Many of the journals which we subscribe to are also available in electronic format. Search the ejournals A Z found under the resources tab on the main library pages to see if we have access to the sought journal. Databases If you are looking for information on a chosen topic then we recommended using Find it at Lincoln. Not all databases are currently covered by the search engine so it may be better to search individual databases. Recommended Databases ABI/Inform Complete - Mainly fulltext articles on a wide range of business-related issues. CABI Abstracts - Abstracts of journal articles in the fields of leisure, recreation and tourism.

Abstracts are available from 1973 onwards, and are searchable by author and by keyword. EBSCO The host for a number of databases including Academic Search Complete and Business Source Complete (two very good business databases.) Factiva Academic - Access to more than 8,000 international sources including major newspapers, newswires and a wide selection of journals. Especially useful for company information and business news. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT ONLY FIVE USERS MAY ACCESS FACTIVA ACADEMIC AT ANY ONE TIME. GMID (Global Market Information Database) formerly known as Euromonitor, this database provides detailed market size data from 52 countries, country data, top brands pertaining to specific countries, world marketing forecasts, lifestyle reports on 60 major and emerging markets, major market profiles of industrialised countries, and market research reports GreenFILE - offers well-researched information covering all aspects of human impact to the environment and is part of the EBSCO package. LexisLibrary Primarily a law database, but has a newspaper tab covering UK newspapers. Marketline Advantage (Datamonitor 360) - offers a comprehensive and unique collection of company, industry, financial, product, country information, research and data extending across every major marketplace and industry. useful for statistics. These are the recommended databases but there are also numerous other databases available useful for scholarly articles on tourism these include IngentaConnect, Sage Premier, Science Direct and SwetsWise. Ebooks We have two main ebook databases, Dawsonera and My I Library. You can search the databases individually or search via Find it at Lincoln or the library catalogue. Once you have your results up, you can limit by ebooks. Dissertations We hold a number of past dissertations on the ground floor. These can be searched via the library catalogue. Search for the topic then when the results are up, limit by dissertations. Summaries and detailed data releases are published free of charge.
