National D-Day Memorial Tour Gathering at the Virginia Museum of Transportation Museum at 10 a.m. Bus leaves at 11 a.m. Return around 4 p.m.

Roanoke Reception and Reunion 5:30-7:30 p.m. reception at 202 Market Participating restaurants oering dinner discounts

Pick up your Blue Ridge Veterans Celebration button at all MemberOne Federal Credit Unions. Buttons are FREE to veterans will proper ID (DD 214, Virginia Veteran ID or military ID). All other buttons will be $15 and will cover all the events for November 9-11 except the D-Day Memorial Tour. Multiple businesses are oering discounts to button holders and more are being added. Church Service - Salem Museum Service begins at 10:00 am Refreshments following Cookout/Veterans Day service Vinton-Roanoke County Veterans Monument Noon 4 p.m.
Local veteran organizations will be on hand throughout the weekend to answer questions and provide information for veterans, active military and families about available services.

Bedford & Downtown Roanoke


We are taking a tour of the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford. Limited seating is available on a bus leaving from the Virginia Museum of Transportation in Roanoke. Reserve your seat on the bus by contacting us via email. Later that evening, join us for a reception at 202 Market in downtown Roanoke from 5:30 7:30 p.m. Come catch up with old friends over some light food and honor those who have served our country. Participating downtown Roanoke restaurants will oer specials for veterans and those with an event button. A full list is available on our website.

Tour & Reception

Parade & BBQ


Downtown Roanoke
The 3rd annual Virginias Veterans Parade starts in downtown Roanoke at 11:00 am. The route comes down Jeerson St. and ends around the Market Place. Following the parade, join us for BBQ (free for those with an event button) and live music by the Railside Stage located at 18 Salem Avenue in downtown Roanoke. The featured speaker is National College President Frank Longaker, a decorated Vietnam veteran who served in the U.S. Army.

Service & Cookout


Salem & Vinton
A non-denominational military style service will take place in the morning at the Salem Museum: 801 East Main Street, Salem, VA 24153 Followed by a cookout from noon to 4 p.m. and traditional Veterans Day service at the Vinton-Roanoke County Veterans Monument: 814 E. Washington Ave, Vinton, Virginia, 24179
