WESTINGHOUSE OFFERS A FULL LINE OF JOB.TAILORED REFLECTOR AND PROJECTOR LAMPS FOR COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS

',"53llhIlo"

Introduced in 1938, Westinghouse Reflector (R) and Projector (PAR) lamps are used today in a wide variety of commercial and industrial applications. These popular lamps can furnish accent and pinpoint lighting as well as general illumination. The special characteristics of R and PAR lamps account for their increased use. Specific designs are engineered for indoor and outdoor applications to provide new flexibility in lighting. Each lamp contains its own built-in silvery reflector, eliminating the need of a reflecting fixture. Light is directed on the subject with a minimum of stray rays. High lumen output is maintained, since dust and dirt settling on the bulb cannot absorb light. Cleaning a reflector lamp is unnecessary. Thus it is an ideal illumination source for many industrial installations where dirt eventually becomes a lighting problem. Westinghouse oflers a complete line of job-tailored reflector and projector lamps to provide every application with the proper lighting. For short range lighting and where low intensities of ilh-rmination are desired, 30 and 75 watt lamps can furnish both general and accent lighting in such locations as restaurants, night clubs, bars and other areas calling for local lighting. Medium range accent lighting and floodlighting can be obtained with 150 watt lamps, a popular size for general lighting as well. Show windows, merchandising displays, signs and marquees are excellent examples where i50 watt reflector lamps can be used effectively. Westinghouse 200, 300 and 500 watt R and PAR lamps are available for installations requiring higher footcandle levels and where greater distances are involved, particularly outdoors as in parking areas. The

300 watt PAR-56 is popular for lighting building facades. For general high bay industrial lighting, Westinghouse manufactures two types of high wattage reflector lamps from 500 to 1000 watts. The R-52 bulb provides a wide, even distribution of light over a large area, while the R-57 bulb gives increased footcandles at the working plane, up to 2Vz times that of the R-52 but with narrower light distribution.

Reflector lamps utilize silver reflectors and are made from two types of glass: lime (soft) glass for indoor use and hard glass for outdoor use. The soft glass lamp may be used outdoors when it is protected from possible direct contact with moisture. Reflector bulbs are of blown rather than pressed glass for high quality at lower cost of manufacture. The light distribution pattern of a reflector lamp is determined by the frosting on the face of the bulbs, a heavy frosting causing greater diffusion for a

flood pattern while little or no frosting is required for spot lamps.

Parabolic Aluminized Reflector lamps, made from two pieces of pressed heat-resistant glass, consist of lens and aluminized reflector. The lamp filament j.s located accurately at the focal point of the reflector before the lens and reflector back are fused. Lenses are of two types: a stippled glass for spot lamps and a prismatic glass for flood distribution. Standard lamps are available in four wattages, utilizing three bulb sizes: PAR-38, PAR-46 and PAR-56. The varied beam distribution of each can be compared on the candlepower distribution curves shown
inside.

For colored floodlighting, indoors and out, Westinghouse PAR-38 lamps of 100 watts are available in seven brilliant colors: red, blue, green, yellow, pink, amber and blue-white. These colors are protected by a silicone coating to prevent color fading as well as lamp failure due to thermal shock. Westinghouse also manufactures 75 and 150 watt reflector lamps in colors for economical sport or floodlighting indoors.

Westinghouse reflector fluorescent and reflector mercury lamps offer the same adyantage as incandescent reflector lamps: more light on the working plane as a result of the built-in reflector. Fluorescent reflector lamps direct 607o morelight in a single direction than conventional fluorescent lamps. They are ideal for use in shop areas, factories, tunnels, garages; in locations where dust and dirt forming above the reflector will have little effect on the lumen output.

Reflector mercury and semi-reflector mercury lamps provide high maintained light output for medium and high bay lighting, in addition to parking areas and other applicationb where other mercury lamps

are used.
