WE ST R IVE T O CR EAT E AN D INNO V AT E. We work on developing advanced skills in communications with an emphasis on digital media studies, multimedia writing, video editing and production, web content strategy and design, and writing for social media platforms.
Digital Media Dynamics
We believe in embracing emerging technology and combining it with creativity to harness digital ingenuity. There seems to be a digital dichotomy between personal social media use and professional use. However, both uses hold the opportunity for imagination to accompany both growth and expansion in a world that is quickly becoming dynamic in digital and diverse ways. Technology is infiltrating our way of communicating with others and allowing us to network in ways that was never possible before. The Saint Joseph’s University Communications Department hopes to educate, as well as inspire, faculty and students to embrace and participate in the evolving digital world. Technology is not a transient technique in creating—technology has become an act of creation in itself. It has built a bridge between the worlds of our minds to a digital reality. The whole meaning of the word “communications” now has a deeper complexity weaved into it because its accessibility seems infinite. It is our hope that the Saint Joseph’s University Department of Communication Studies will establish itself as a community at the forefront of social change through the incorporation and use of emerging media. We are currently working on revamping all of our social media platforms, as well as transforming our image into one of an intuitive digital department. We are fueled by the creative energy of our faculty and students who recognize the potential and momentum of new media. They work within the digital dialect of our culture to create trendy and relevant projects. They also apply their skills to social change through Beautiful Social, and work in teams analyzing social media and how it has the poInformation Literacy
