Name: Progena/Sister Mallia

Career: Sororitas Order: Order of the Black Goblet Rank: Novice Chosen Patron Saint: St. Arabella Divination:”In the darkness, follow the light of Terra.” Gender: Female Build: Slender Skin Color: Fair Hair Color: Blond Eye Color: Blue Age: Stripling (21) Starting XP: 400 Starting Package: None =========================================================================== Mallia was born on Vaxanide, Periphery Subsector of Calixis Secor of Segmentum Obscura, as the first child of Zetkin Tullius and Cromwell “Immolator” Iunius; raised after her parents’ death in the Schola Progenium facility un the Valon Urr Shrine World. Her mother, a born citizen of Vaxanhive, walked the path of the Arbitrator, coming from a long ancestry of Arbitrators. Her father, born in the distant

Segmentum Terra on the Hive World of Thule, walked the path of the Guardsman. He was a general and his Regiment, the Iron Sky Legion of Thule, had been dispatched to Calixis to combat increasing unrest on Vaxanide. Both are deceased. They were slaughtered by Rebels of the Black Hand Ring, an Organisation that is both a prominent Syndicate in Vaxanhive and a prominent rebel group outside, controlling much of the illegal drugs trade in the hive. When Cromwell and a detachment of his elite Grenadiers tried to take out a Sub-Boss of the Black Hand Ring, whose location they had extracted from one of his concubines who had been identified in a Vision the Emperor granted Zetkin, the crime syndicate was discovered to be a front for a shockingly advanced Tzeeench cult. While they could warn the authorities of this dangerous discovery, both perished there; Cromwell in battle, Zetkin when trying to save one of his troopers from being sacrificed to the chaos gods. She is the firstborn, but has a brother, who is two years younger than her. Her brother's name is Zaddion. He walks the path of the Ecclesiarchic Preacher. Both children, then 5 and 2 years old, were taken in by the Ecclesiarchy, as their parents had died valiantly in the service of the Emperor, and their sire was deemed worth of an education in the Schola Progenitum. They were relocated to the nearest facility, located on the Valon Urr shrine world. Life in the Schola was tough on both children, and being separated except for holidays was tougher, but it also served to forge them into diligent and faithful servants of the Emperor. Both were at the top of their classes and even houses, and both showed they had inherited much of their parents. However, Zaddion never managed to succeed more than slightly above average in combat tests, whereas Mallia showed great proficiency with weapons, as well as with scholarly things. Both became prized students, and though seeing each other not very often, kept in contact, shared thoughts about the Emperor’s teachings and even managed to uncover a slight heresy by one fellow student, who then was expelled. A few weeks after, a friend of this student challenged her to a duel to the death, enraged by her having gotten his firend expelled over what he considered a minimal slight. Him and the expelled being nobles, and her being born to commoners, he fashioned himself the winner, but it turned out that, while he struck a bad blow on her face, he lost. His life was so far the only one she spared. The scar from this cut, a deep cut from her lower jaw up her right cheek, she wears with pride, knowing she gained it doing the right thing. The Liber Inspiratio she got as a first gift of many from the Schola thoroughly read, but in good shape - is Mallia’s good luck charm. Some handwritten annotations serve to remind her of specific thoughts on faith and philosophy. Bound it in leather herself, and engraved upon it the divination her mother received at her birth: “In the Darkness, Follow the Light of Terra”. At 16, one year after this duel, she was offered to join the Fleet, the Elite Stormtroopers of Terra, or the Sororitas. Meditating on this for one night, she received a vision of St. Arabella, and chose Sororitas. Her brother chose to become a preacher, also guided by a vision he gained in meditation. Both were assigned to important posts in the sector. Despite being divided by lightyears, they keep in touch by mail [or equivalent], and continue to share thoughts and inspirations. However, both are first and foremost dedicated to the Ecclesiarchy; their siblinghood is a close second.

Thought for the Day (aus dem Liber Inspiratio) A coward seeks compromise. A dagger in the dark is worth a thousand swords at dawn. A good soldier obeys without question. A good officer commands without doubt. A mind without purpose will wander in dark places. A narrow view sees better. A questioning servant is more dangerous than an ignorant heretic. A single thought of heresy can blight a lifetime of faithful duty. A slave to the Throne is richer by far than a thousand renegades. An open mind is like a fortress with its gates unbarred and unguarded. Analysis is the bane of conviction. Ask not why, just do. Be strong in your ignorance. Be vigilant and strong. The Emperor knows what evil lurks in the vacillation of a weak fool. Better crippled in body than corrupt in mind. Blessed is the mind too small for doubt. Blessed is a closed mind filled with faith. Blind faith is a just cause. Contemplation is the womb of treachery. Doubt is the open gate through which slips the most fatal of enemies. Dying for something is greater than living for nothing. Every servant has his place, to know it is his great comfort, to excel within his greatest solace. Faith without deeds is worthless. Foolish are those who fear nothing, yet claim to know everything. For a warrior, the only crime is cowardice. Happiness is a delusion of the weak. Honour the craft of death. Hope is the beginning of unhappiness. If a job's worth doing it's worth dying for. In the darkness a blind man is the best guide. In an age of madness look to the madman to show the way. Innocence proves nothing. Intellect is a mask for traitors. It is not the Horror of War that troubles me, but the Unseen Horrors of Peace. Let the impure bow down before our guns. Life is not measured in years, but the deeds of men. Look to your battle gear and let it protect you. Mercy is a sign of weakness. No barrier, no enemy will thwart my purpose. No man that died in the Emperor's service died in vain. Only in death does duty end. Pain is an illusion of the senses, despair is an illusion of the mind. Power does not reside with the oracle, but with the priests.

Praise the Emperor whose sacrifice is life as ours is death. Reason is the cloak of traitors. Reason begets Doubt; Doubt begets Heresy. Ruthlessness is the kindness of the wise. Serve the Emperor today, for tomorrow you may be dead. Sins hidden in the heart turn all to decay. Sometimes the good must perish so that the rest survive. The greatest of courage is to be sacrificed on the altar of battle. Success is commemorated; failiure merely remembered. Success is measured in blood; yours or your enemy's. Success is the destruction of your enemies. The difference between heresy and treachery is ignorance. The Emperor asks only that you obey. The Emperor bestows upon us the gift of intolerance. The Emperor's Mercy is neither to forgive nor to forget but to accept. The end always justifies the means. The foolish man puts his trust in luck, the wise man puts his trust in the Emperor. The justice of your action is measured by the strength of your conviction. The loyal servant learns to love the leash. The mutant bears his heresy on the outside, the traitor hides it in his soul. The rewards for tolerance are treachery and betrayal. The weapon slays where the hand wills. The wise man learns from the deaths of others. Thought begets heresy. Heresy begets retribution. There is no arguing with the barrel of a gun. There is nothing to fear but failure. There can be no bystanders in the battle for survival. Anyone who will not fight by your side is an enemy you must crush. Thought for the pious. Carry the Emperor's will as your torch, with it destroy the shadows. Through the destruction of our enemies do we gain our salvation. To compromise is to err. To withdraw in disgust is not cowardice. Trying to understand weakens the will to act. Victory needs no explanation, defeat allows none. Warriors of the Emperor seek no reward but death. We must endure the present so that those who come after may continue the greater work. With faith and fire, we serve the Emperor. What is the self, compared to the God-Emperor’s service? Nothing.
