Join us after work to one of the largest indoor climbing facilities in Northern California, Granite Arch Climbing Center. For the beginners, we will set you up with all the gear needed and do some instruction so you can enjoy climbing indoors. For experienced climbers feel free to find a belay partner and get on the wall after we check you off. Trip includes transportation, gear, entry fee and professional instruction. We will make a brief stop for dinner or you are welcome to pack a light dinner and snack. Off base pickup available in Lincoln and Roseville.

Fall Wine & Brewfest

Grab your significant other or a group of friends for a fun evening out for a good cause. Well take you to the beautiful Auburn Ridge Golf Club for the Fall Wine & Brew Fest, where the cost of this trip includes UNLIMITED food, wine and beer samples from a gathering of Placer Countys finest wineries, cuisines, and microbreweries; plus, sake, live music, a terrific silent auction, raffles and more. Royal Gorge CrossCountry Ski Resort

Great for beginners and intermediates alike! Bring your sense of adventure with you as we explore the Royal Gorge area of the Sierras on X-country skis! X-Country skiing is an exciting sport that offers good aerobic exercise and views of some of the most majestic mountain peaks on this side of the Rockies!! With 65 trails intertwining around this snowy wonderland there is sure something for everyone. Royal Gorge offers many picturesque warming huts along the trail so we can take a break, warm up our fingers and toes, and sip on some hot beverages. The OAC will supply all gear and instructions, along with transportation and park fees. We will fit the skis at the time you sign up so please allow extra time. Off-Base pick-up: Penn Valley Park and Ride Drive time: Approx 2 hrs.

Jelly Belly Factory & Vacaville Outlets Trip


January 10 (Weekday trip!)
A visit to the candy making factory in Fairfield, is sure to be a sugary delight. Step into the Jelly Belly factory and smell the aroma of chocolate, apricot, cinnamon or pineapple, whatever is being cooked up that day. Youll take part in a 40-minute walking tour as a Jelly Belly Guide shows you a real working factory where they cook up over 150 different sweet treats. Learn the secrets to how they create the legendary Jelly Belly bean, and discover why it takes more than a week to make a single bean. See taffy, chocolates, and wild gummy critters in the making, too. Back in the Visitor Center after the tour, more good times await visitors. Taste for yourself any of their candies and Jelly Belly beans at the Sampling Bar. An exhibition candy kitchen makes handdipped chocolates and seasonal sweets, all within view of visitors. After spending the morning at the Jelly Belly Factory, we will drive you to the Vacaville Outlet Shopping Center for a few hours of discount shopping at its best where you can find after-holiday sales as well as spend that Christmas money.

Pack yourself a healthy dinner and bring along your sense of adventure for a night of snowshoeing. This fast growing sport is great for those who love aerobic fitness and are looking for a new outlet to expend some energy. Learn how to get out and enjoy this low key, high energy, and low cost sport. The evening will include a beginner instruction, snowshoes, poles and roundtrip transportation. Youth through adult snowshoe sizes are available. OAC will fit your gear the day you sign up for the tripplease allow a few extra minutes for this service. San Francisco/Pier 39

We will drop you off at Pier 39 and Fishermans Wharf, where you can shop, tour Alcatraz, take a bay cruise under the Golden Gate Bridge or catch a bus, cable car or trolley to any of San Franciscos great landmarks. The holiday season is the perfect time to explore Chinatown, Japantown, North Beach (Little Italy) or world renowned Union Square where you can marvel at the holiday decorations and take in some great shopping. If you would like to tour Alcatraz, we highly recommend you contact www.alcatrazcruises.com and pre-purchase tickets well in advance for a time of 11:00am or later. Burney Falls Hike/ Shasta Dam Tour


November 4
Our first stop will take place at the 129 spring fed Burney Falls which is quite possibly the most beautiful waterfall in the state. You will have time to take pictures, enjoy an easy hike along the Burney creek to Lake Britton, then back to the park where we will eat lunch. From there we will travel a short distance to tour the 602 foot Shasta Dam which is considered one of the greatest engineering feats of all time. The one-hour guided tour includes an elevator ride down inside the dam, where guides will discuss the history, purpose and construction of this huge project. After the short walk through the dam, the tour heads over to the powerhouse for a chance to view the states largest hydroelectric generating station. We will make a quick stop for dinner on the way home. Off-base pickup available in Yuba City.

Come with us as we venture through the rolling hills and redwood trees of the Ventana Wilderness near Big Sur. Sykes Hot Springs is one of the best places to take first time backpackers who are reasonably fit or experienced backpackers looking for a new adventure. We will stay down in Big Sur Friday night at Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park then start our hiking trip from there on Saturday morning. Our hike Saturday through Sunday will be 10 miles each way into our backcountry campsite located near a trout filled stream and just a short walk away from the natural hot springs. This trip includes most food, all gear, transportation and guide. PRE TRIP MEETING WILL BE ON NOVEMBER 14 @ 5:00PM Off base pick available in Plumas Lake and Sacramento.

Snow Play & Tubing Day

Let the OAC take you and your family for a full day of sledding and playing in the snow. OAC will provide your roundtrip transportation, sleds and snow saucers for your afternoon of fun, as well as, chilidogs, hot cocoa and cookies for lunch. Bring the kids and enjoy a round of snowball flights, building snowmen, or creating your own concoction of fun in the snow. Winchester Mystery House Tour

Join OAC for a day of mystery and intrigue as we take a trip to San Jose for a guided tour of the famous, Winchester Mystery House. Tour 110 rooms of this incredible mansion and search for answers as to why a window is built into the floor, staircases lead to nowhere, a chimney rises four floors and why doors open onto blank walls. You can also take a self-guided Garden Tour that includes a guide map and narrative tapes at the 10 major points of interest. View beautiful Victorian gardens featuring 14,000 miniature boxwood hedges, year-round flowerers and plants, European statues and elaborate fountains. This trip includes both your ticket and roundtrip transportation. It is suggested that you pack a lunch, so that you can relax and picnic in the group picnic gardens before we depart for home. Nevada City Victorian Christmas Celebration

Winter is a beautiful time of the year, especially when a fresh layer of snow covers the ground. Calaveras Big Trees Snowshoe & Murphys Tour

Spend the day doing something fun and extraordinary. First we will snowshoe into an ancient grove of Giant Sierra Redwood trees. A Sierra redwood may contain enough wood to build 40 five-room homes; may weigh 4,000 tons; be as tall as the Statue of Liberty and can have diameters in excess of 30 feet! On the way back home, you will be dropped off in historic downtown Murphys where you can visit any of the numerous wineries and grab a bite to eat in one of the great restaurants. Dont forget to stop by the historic Murphys Hotel Saloon where a warm fire burns in the old fashioned pot bellied stove while patrons gather at the 30 foot long wooden bar to enjoy house made appetizers and a wide variety of cocktails. Tahoe Cabin Ski Weekend


January 25-27
Join us for a weekend in Tahoe like none other, in a log cabin! We will be heading out after work Friday to drive up to our cabin. Saturday and Sunday we will be going up to Homewood and Squaw Valley to catch some turns in the awesome Tahoe-Sierra snow. The cabin is located near the shore of Tahoe just outside the town of Homewood. We will be able to stoke up the fire, kickback and enjoy the stories from the day. Most meals are included. Make sure you get your rentals here at the OAC to receive the discounted rate for the weekend.

Kayak Cosumnes River Nature Preserve

Come and paddle with us through the overgrown jungle of the Cosumnes River as it meanders through a 6700-acre nature preserve. The best time to observe the many species of waterfowl in the preserve is during the winter months. Well explore this incredible riparian corridor as only kayakers can, through hidden sloughs and passages, observing birds, wildlife and the varied flora that make this preserve so unique. Winter Bounce House and Movie Day at OAC

Get your kids out of the house to release some of that pent up holiday energy and swing by the Outdoor Adventure Center as it is transformed into Kiddie Land for a few fun filled hours! OAC will set up their bounce houses, climbing wall and slide (weather permitting) for the kids enjoyment. Plus, the giant 16 inflatable movie screen will be playing movies throughout the event with FREE popcorn for all! Games, face painting and fun for all ages we will even designate a bounce house for children 3 and under! Bring a sack lunch or purchase lunch at the event. Outdoor Rock Climbing

Join the OAC in our new in-house program, Outdoor Rock Climbing! On these trips we will be traveling out to the Auburn Confluence Area located just outside of Auburn to do some Top Rope climbing. This trip is geared for all levels of climbers, beginners who to learn all the way to experienced climbers looking for a new challenge. The day with start out with instruction and demonstration of all the gear then we will move onto technique and basic skills needed for climbing. By the end of the day you will be seamlessly climbing all over the rock. All gear and professional guide are provided. Just remember to bring your sense of adventure and a day pack. The Outdoor Adventure Center, otherwise known as the OAC, is here to take care of all of your recreational needs. The OAC provides a wide variety of trips that are designed to suit everyone, at any skill level and all trips are led by skilled and trained guides. OAC trips are a great way to make new friendships and build relationships with others who share the same interests. Beales OAC is frequently compared to that of an overseas recreation facility due to the massive variety of recreational gear and programs offered. The OACs massive rental inventory offers ski boats, pontoon & fishing boats, camping trailers, gear and backpacking equipment, a full line of kayaks, lawn and garden equipment, a full service ski and snowboard shop, and more! OAC also offers a popular retail store, small mechanic services, and home to one of the Air Forces first Bike Shops. Plus, the OAC is home to your ITT Office (Information, Ticket and Tours) offering a huge selection of tickets and leisure tours. One stop shopping, all under one roof! Stop by and see why OAC is a multiple year winner of both the Air Forces and ACCs Outdoor Recreation Program of the Year! Introduce people to the diversity of outdoor recreation activities and their associated values and benefits. Instruct people in appropriate attitudes, behaviors, and skills relevant to the activities; organize and lead safe and satisfying outings, activities and programs; facilitate self-directed or externally sponsored outdoor pursuits through the provision of information, equipment and referrals.

Sign up Information

Sign ups for all trips are on a first come, first serve basis. It is advised that you sign-up well in advance as many OACs popular trips fill up very quickly! Sign-up deadlines are noted for each trip and payment must be made at time of enrollment. All trips require a minimum number of participants in order to go. So, invite your friends and family to ensure that the trip takes place. OAC also keeps an active waiting list on all trips that are full just in case there are any cancellations!

Refund Policy

No refunds will be given after the sign-up deadline unless cancelled by the OAC. If cancelling after the sign-up deadline you must notify OAC and they will make every effort to sell your space in order to provide you with a refund.

Snow Play & Tubing Day

Let the OAC take you and your friends, or family for a full day of sledding and playing in the snow. OAC will supply the sleds and saucers, plus we will be cooking up some chilidogs, hot cocoa and cookies for lunch. Enjoy a round of snowball fights with your friends or kids, practice your skills at building a snowman, or create your own concoction of fun in the snow. Ski attire, snow boots and additional equipment (x-country skis, snowshoes, etc.) are available for rent at a discounted rate for trip participants or check out our retail store where everything is always 25-50% off and you pay no sales tax! Full Moon Snowshoe/ X-Country Ski

No Experience Necessary! Snowshoeing or X-country skiing under a full moon is a majestic outdoor activity that everyone can enjoy. Pack yourself a healthy dinner and bring along your sense of adventure for a night of snowshoeing. This fast growing sport is great for those who love aerobic fitness and are looking for a new outlet to expend some energy. Learn how to get out and enjoy this low key, high energy, and low cost sport. The evening will include a beginner instruction, snowshoes/X-country skis, poles and roundtrip transportation. Youth through adult snowshoe/Xcountry ski sizes are available. OAC will fit your gear the day you sign up for the tripplease allow a few extra minutes for this service. You will need a good pair of hiking boots or waterproof style boots to properly fit your snowshoes. OAC will provide warm beverages for the ride home!

Carl Miller Yurt Overnight X-Country Ski/ Snowshoe Trip


February 9-10
A Yurt is a backcountry hut complete with wood stove to keep you warm and toasty. We will ski or snowshoe the flats of Colby Meadows to our backcountry Yurt, where we will settle in before venturing out again for some exploration. When the day is over we will hunker down for the evening in the Yurt where you can sit around the warm pot belly stove, tell stories, enjoy dinner, some beverages and enjoy the camaraderie of newfound friends. Well cook up something warm for both breakfast and dinner. The ski/shoe adventure to the Yurt is about two miles and is great for beginners and experts, alike. Trip includes: transportation, lodging, breakfast & dinner, cross country ski or snowshoe gear. You provide snacks and lunches. Note: Bathroom facilities are very rustic. There is a mandatory pre-trip meeting, Wednesday Feb. 6th 5:00PM @ the OAC.

San Franciscos Chinese New Year Parade


February 23
Spend the first part of the day exploring the world famous Pier 39 at Fishermans Wharf, Ghirardelli Square, Alcatraz or any of the other many exciting places in San Francisco. Then be sure to head over to Chinatown at 4:00pm to get a good spot for the Chinese New Year parade and festival which begins at 5:30pm. Nowhere in the world will you see a lunar New Year parade with more gorgeous floats, elaborate costumes, ferocious lions, exploding firecrackers plus, the crowds favorite a spectacular 250 Golden Dragon (Gum Lung). It takes a team of over 100 men and women to carry this dragon throughout the streets of San Francisco. This years parade promises to warm your heart and electrify your senses, come rain or shine!
