Forfull details check ourwebsite www. ieedsunited.com November 16 is going to be a great day for one of our really specialfans. Joseph Hickey will be celebrating his 100th birthday. Although no longer able to come to Elland Road, he still talks vividly of it while following the game on Yorkshire Radio. Apparently, not slow to correct his grandson Kevin Macklam, should he get his facts and statswrong. Now he really is a lifelong supporter! Every season, the Football League does a "silent shopper" experience on every club directedto some particular aspect of matchday activities. We have just received our report which this year, concentrated on a first-time Family Visit. Happily, itwas very good anda creditto all concerned. One point I would like to make is that sometimes we get requests that we offer a wider choice of menu. The problem is that unlike normal snack bars, we only open about 25 times a year and with too wide a choice, we will simply throw away more perishables, thereby increasing both the cost and the price. Particularly gratifyingwas the latest RAJAR audience figures released this week for the period April 21-September 16. Despite having the longest close season in recent times, Yorkshire Radio listeners were a lot higher at 117,000 and weekly listening hours have risen to 422,000! In addition, although not covered by RAJAR, we have many listeners who (like me) listen via Sky Channel 0209 and of course ourworldwide audience on the internet. This is a remarkable achievement by the team at Yorkshire Radio, and is now not just a football station but also covers all ofYorkshire Sport, including horse-racing, cricket, rugby league, rugby union and athletics. Furthermore, at the same time, Radio Aire has dropped to just 119,000 and BBC Radio Leeds to 209,000. Well done to all concerned.
