The Pictorialist

October 2012 Newsletter of the Photo Pictorialists of Milwaukee Established 1904 Affiliated with the Photographic Society of America Wisconsin Area Camera Clubs Organization And the Wisconsin Print Circuit Richard Yehl, President; Sandra Weber, Vice President Dixie Lowin, Treasurer; Bert Hartinger, Secretary-Editor Meetings are held the first and third Thursdays of each month from September thru May at 7pm, in the Luther Manor Conference Room, 4545 N. 92nd St., Wauwatosa, Wisconsin In Memory of Robert Lauer Bob Lauer, who died September 9, was a truly remarkable man. He was a life member of the Pictorialists and an associate member of PSA. We will miss him at our meetings for his knowledge of photography and for his wit. His friends were many. We offer our condolences to his wife Helen and to other members of the extended Lauer family. The October 4 Meeting Program The best efforts to obtain a speaker for the October meeting did not work out. Instead we will have a discussion on composition and on critiquing each others images. Richard will talk of a proposal for club members to share and evaluate photos using the Internet. Phil Block, the speaker on composition we hoped to have in October will be with us at the November meeting instead. Those of us who went on the Doors Open outing last Saturday should bring in twelve photos from the outing, two of which will be for critiquing, and others should bring in two for critiquing. In addition, each member is asked to bring in one color print and one black and white print, 8x10 or 16x20, for the Wisconsin Print Circuit competition, which will be judged in November, along with photos from another club. The photos should be unmounted, and with your name, print title, and club name on the back. At the September meeting we voted to go to Myers Restaurant on 76th St and Forest Home for our May 16 awards banquet. Each meal will cost $15.95 and the club will pay $5.95 of this to make the cost per member only $10.00. We fill decide on the menu at this October meeting Membership The October meeting is the deadline for payment of club dues which are $20 for an individual and $30 for a couple. Once we know who the paid up members are a new membership list will be published. Edith Hoefer recently wrote saying she would no longer be able to make it to our meetings. In recognition of her long time membership in the Pictorialists and her contributions thereto, it was voted to make her a life member. WACCO Stuff The 2012 WACCO competition will be Nov. 3, and the deadline for entering is the 20th of October. Entry forms can be obtained from the WACCO web site.
