Your opportunity to contribute to our plans

St Marys Parish Church, together with local parents, is setting up a new school to meet
the need for places in the area. We plan to open our first reception class (30 children) in
September 2013. We value all and any feedback as it will help us to develop a school that
will be at the heart of our local community.
Please read on for information about our plans, and a questionnaire for you to have your say

More details are also available on the school website at www.st-marys-hampton-primary.org,

where you can download copies of this consultation form.
Please return it to us at St Marys Vicarage, 7 Church Street, Hampton TW12 2EB
by 21 December 2012.

Where will the school be?

Vision and ethos

Our vision is to create a learning environment in
which each child is supported to achieve their best,
encouraging them to flourish as well-rounded and
happy children.
We will serve local families and the wider community
by providing a high quality educational experience
rooted in Christian belief and practice.

We plan to redevelop the Oldfield Centre and

grounds to create a well-equipped, flexible and
stimulating learning environment. The school will
have a new playground as well as a large grassed
area for outdoor activities and a wooded area for
outdoor learning.
The school address will be:
St Marys Hampton CE Primary School
Oldfield Road
Hampton
TW12 2HP

Our core motivations are:

To provide crucial primary places in a small, local,

all-through primary (4-11) school;

To support every child to achieve their best, with

a strong emphasis on English and Maths and

enrichment through Music and Art;
And to share Christian values such as honesty,
integrity, respect, tolerance and forgiveness.
Worship and Religious Education will be key
parts of life at the school.

You can find a location map and information

about the redevelopment online at
www.st-marys-hampton-primary.org.

Teaching and support staff

We have begun the process of appointing a
Headteacher. S/he will be instrumental in preparing
for the opening of the school in September 2013.
In addition we will appoint a Reception teacher
(and a Teaching Assistant) plus administrative and
maintenance staff. As the school grows we will
appoint teachers year by year. All teachers will be
professionally trained and qualified. Officers from
the London Diocesan Board for Schools are
strengthening our preparation for the school.

The proposed curriculum

Our vision is to provide a quality education for every
child. The curriculum will be broad, balanced and
exciting, embracing a range of learning opportunities.
Learning will be based on the National Curriculum,
with an emphasis on Maths and English, particularly
enriched by Music and Art.
Christian perspectives and principles will be
integrated within the context of the curriculum,
when appropriate.
As a school for our local community we will expect
to meet the needs of children with a wide range of
abilities and needs; we will comply fully with the
Special Educational Needs Code of Practice.

Admissions policy
Families who live in Hampton South are currently
disadvantaged in their choice of school. We aim to
provide the option of a small and local Church of
England primary school serving Hampton, and in
particular families from Hampton South.
After the admission of any pupil with a statement
of Special Educational Needs, where the school is
named on the statement, oversubscription criteria
will be applied in this order:
i.
ii.
iii.
iv.
v.
vi.

Looked after children and previously Looked after

children;
Children with a sibling already on-roll at St Marys
Primary School who will be on-roll when the child
is admitted (applies from September 2014);
Children whom the Governors accept have an
exceptional medical or social need for a place
at the school;
Children who live in Hampton South;
Children who live in Hampton;
And other children, with priority to those living
closest to the school.

We welcome applications from families of all faiths

and none. Admission is without regard to church
attendance.

Our recognition of the uniqueness of each child

arises directly from our Christian values; everyone is
created in Gods image. Our curriculum and teaching
will ensure that children of all abilities, faiths and
backgrounds are fully included, encouraged to
develop and given access to all activities. A full copy
of our SEN Policy can be found at
www.st-marys-hampton-primary.org.
Details of the full application process, definitions of
Hampton South and Hampton and the procedure
for allocating children within categories are available
from the school website.

How the school will be run

St Marys Hampton will be a Free School. It is being
jointly planned by a local volunteer group and the
London Diocesan Board for Schools. The Diocese
already runs 150 C of E schools in London, including
St Mary and St Peters in Teddington, who will support
St Marys Hampton as part of a family of local schools,
by sharing their expertise with us.
As with all Academy Schools and Free Schools, there
will be an Academy Trust which will enter a Funding
Agreement with the Department for Education (DfE)
before the school opens. Funding for the school will
be direct from the DfE rather than via the local
authority. The Funding Agreement sets out the
agreement between the DfE and the Free School.
The Model Funding Agreement can be found here:
http://bit.ly/R9DPCw on the DfE website.

Free from fees

Parents will not have to pay to send their children to
this school. The day to day running of the school and
decision-making will be undertaken by a Board of
Governors including representatives from: St Marys
Parish Church, the London Diocesan Board of Schools,
the local community, parents and school staff.
