Usually when you hear people ask “What’s your sign” as a pickup line, they are talking about

your sun sign. Your sun sign just means the position of the sun when you were born centered around the 12 signs. Your sun sign describes your basic nature and personality that is common of people of the same sign. Moon signs are important, too. Moon signs are said to rule your personality, while the sun sign rules your individuality. What position the moon was in on your date of birth, time of birth, and location of birth is how you find out what your moon sign is. Moon signs are more accurate than sun signs. There is also your rising sign. The rising sign is what sign was on the horizon at the time of birth. It changes every two hours so even twins could have different rising signs. The rising sign can also be called the ascending sign and is the “mask” one wears. It is our first impression we make on people or the first personality traits we exhibit. People that fall near the beginning or the end of a sun sign, usually one or two days before or after are considered to be on the cusp and should look at both signs they are close to because they are a mix between the two. People that are on the cusp have their own special spot on the astrology chart. When it comes to classifying zodiac signs there are three categories. Each sign has a duality that can be either passive or assertive meaning introverted or extroverted. Each sign also has a mode which is cardinal or are self-starters, fixed which are focused/determined and mutable which is flexible or adaptable. There is also a fourth classification and that is by element. The four elements are fire, which are vital and intense, earth which is practical and stable, air which are social and intellectual, and water which is intuitive and emotional. No two signs are exactly alike but many share some commonalities. As you can see, there is a lot more to astrology than just what you read about in the paper.
