The Quran and the Wisdom
[4:113] - - waanzala Allahu AAalayka alkitaba waalhikmata waAAallamaka ma lam takun taAAlamu wakana fadlu Allahi AAalayka Aaatheeman - - - Allah revealeth unto thee the Scripture and wisdom, and teacheth thee that which thou knewest not. The grace of Allah toward thee hath been infinite.

Allah says in this ayat clearly that the scripture and wisdom are separate things revealed to the Holy Prophet PBUH. When Allah gave the Prophet PBUH the book and

wisdom the knowledge of the entire universe was in it. [6:59] WaAAindahu mafatihu alghaybi la yaAAlamuha illa huwa wayaAAlamu ma fee albarri waalbahri wama tasqutu min waraqatin illa yaAAlamuha wala habbatin fee thulumati alardi wala ratbin wala yabisin illa fee kitabin mubeenin
Everything seen and unseen is ordered and regulated by the laws made by Him; the fresh and the withered, the living and the dead - nothing is outside the plan of His creation. Allah knows that which takes place, manifest or hidden, because it is an effect of His supreme will. [Pooya/Ali Commentary 6:59] Ayyashi reports that according to Imam Musa bin Jafar al Kazim, Imam Ali, while explaining verse 43 of al Rad, said: The book, mentioned in this verse, knowledge of which is stated to be with the witness who testifies to the prophethood of the Holy Prophet along with Allah; and the book, mentioned in verse 12 of Ya Sin, containing all

In these last two verses Allah is referring to a special man. A man whom He taught the Quran and then created him. Imam Ali (AS) was born in the kaaba and when the Holy Prophet PBUH picked Imam Ali in his lap the baby opened his eyes and recited the ayats of sura mominoon. Thus the special man who was taught the Quran by Allah before he was created made himself known to all. [Pooya/Ali Commentary 55:3] Allah asked the angels to prostrate before Adam after breathing His spirit into him. The prostration was not made before the body of Adam but before the spirit of Allah which carried life or existence (hayat), knowledge (ilm) and authority (qudrat). As the angels did not have the knowledge taught to Adam, the command to accept Adam's superiority was just. It means that the integration of divine faculties in Adam took place because of the spirit of Allah which purified him. Adam was the grand sire of the thoroughly purified Ahl ul Bayt mentioned in Ahzab: 33.

The Holy Prophet said: "I was the prophet of Allah when Adam was between the stages of water and clay.

[Munatzir E Qaim (AS)]

It was my light (nur) which Allah created before all creation."
Thus "man" (insan) referred to in this verse is the divinely conditioned, integrated and perfected being of the Holy Prophet. It was this original purity of the Holy Prophet which, when was invested with Adam, entitled him to receive obeisance from the angels. The Holy Prophet's light passed through the progeny of Adam, manifested in the messengers and prophets of Allah, and reached Abdul Muttalib. Then it bifurcated into his two sons Abdullah and Abu Talib; and from Abdullah it manifested in Muhammad and from Abu Talib it manifested in Ali.

The Holy Prophet said: "I and Ali are from one and the same light."
Then again these two rays of the divine light were united, through Ali and Fatimah, and manifested in Hasan, Husayn and the nine Imams in their progeny

"We have gathered all things in a manifest Imam " (Ya Sin: 12)
There are some Islamic narrations available from the side of Ahl-ul-Bayt (a.s.) in which the Qur'ānic phrase: /'imāmin-mubīn/ has been rendered into 'Amir-ul-Mu'mineen Ali (a.s.). Among them is a tradition narrated from Imam Bāqir (a.s.) from his father, from his grandfather (a.s.) who said: "When this verse was revealed, Abūbakr and 'Umar stood up and said: 'O messenger of Allah! Is its purpose the Turah?' He answered: 'No'. They asked: 'Is it Bible?' He said: 'No'. They said: 'Is its purpose the Qur'ān?' He said: 'No'. At this time Amir-ulMu'mimeen Ali (a.s.) came toward the Prophet (p.b.u.h.). As soon as the Messenger of Allah (p.b.u.h.) saw him, he said: 'This man is /'imām-in-mubīn/. He is the Imam in whom Allah, the Exalted, has numbered the knowledge of everything'." (Ma'ānī-ul-'Akhbār, by Sadūq)

(ii) The life in every conscious being. (iii) Isa is a word of Allah and a spirit (proceeding) from Him. (Nisa: 171). (iv) The Quran as mentioned in Shura: 52. (v) The spirit which comes down in the night of qadr with the angels (Quran: 4).

Thus Allah sends His rooh to those amongst men whom He wants to make a leader. This rooh can go from East to West in an instant and from the earth to the sky. The rooh knows the past and the present.

Thus the angels were to prostrate after Allah blew the Rooh into Adam. Issah is thus called Roohallah. He brings dead back to life. He knew all things hidden in peoples hearts. The rooh knows that which is in your hearts. This is only possible if the rooh knows you inside out. It reads your mind. Thus the Imam does not need to be told. you thought and he knows.

At the time of the death of Imam Ali Al-Reza (AS) our 9th Imam was only 9 years old. Some people from among the followers of Ahlulbayt and others, doubted Imam’s eligibility to become Imam at this young age. Kulaini in his Kafi relates that the Mutawalli of the Holy Ka’aba questioned Imam for several days before he was satisfied and accepted him as the Imam of the Time. Once a man was passing by and the Imam was was 7 or 10 years old. Imam Reza had just been martyred. The muslim man thought these shia are stupid and call this little boy Imam. The Imam said it is not as you think. The man fell at his feet and said you are the representative of the prophet without any doubt. This incident also illustrates that the Imam knows that which is in your heart.

THE PROPHET LEFT TWO THINGS AMONGST HIS NATION
2-97 Al-Hassan ibn Abdullah ibn Sa’id al-Askari narrated that Muhammad ibn Hamdan al-Qushayri quoted AlMuqayrih ibn Muhammad ibn al-Muhlib, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Abdullah ibn Davood, on the authority of Fuzayl ibn Mazooq, on the authority of Atiye al-Oafi, on the authority of Abi Sa’id al-Khidry that God’s Prophet (MGB) said, “I have left amongst you two things each of which is longer than the other one. They are the Book of God which is a Rope that extends from the heavens to the Earth and my Itrat. These two shall not be separated from each other until they meet me at the Heavenly Pool.[142] ” (The narrator of this tradition added:) I asked Abi Sa’id (alKhidry), “Who are the Prophet’s Itrat?” He replied, “They are the members of his Holy Household.”

Summary
As this collection of ayats shows us Allah revealed the Quran and the wisdom. He taught the prophets and the Imams all that they knew. The taught in addition a special man Imam Ali (AS) all the knowledge. Further all knowledge was collected in a manifest Imam. The Rooh which is with the Imam also knows all things. Therefore the Imam knows all things, thus if you were to write a letter to our 12th Imam he is aware of this areeza.

The Ariza
In the name of Allah the Beneficent, the Merciful.I have written to you O my Master, may His mercy and blessing be on you, seeking a favour from you. I have complained to you for what has happened to me seeking solutions firstly from Allah and then from you for a matter that has obsessed me. I am helpless in combating the problem and for that I have resorted to seeking help from Allah and from you, knowing the status you have with Allah. I am confident that you will help me get the solution to my problems swiftly and that you will intercede on my behalf. I am helpless and moreover I am sinful, so help O my Master and present this problem to Allah and I pray to Him that He will solve this quickly and grant me victory and success in finding the solution to my problems. I am not able to carry or bear with it. Although I am responsible for the increase of my sins and ignorant about my responsibilities (Wajibats) from Allah which are given to me. So help me O my Master peace be upon you.During this time of problems and sorrow present my prayers to Allah before I compensate and before my enemies engulfs me, for you have shown me your blessings. So I pray to Allah for great salvation and near victory with calmness from all fears. For Allah is most high and does what he wants. Allah is sufficient for me from the beginning and in my hopes. Whatever Allah wishes there is neither strength nor any power except in Allah the high, the great.

[3:46] He will speak unto mankind in his cradle and in his manhood, and he is of the righteous. [Pooya/Ali Commentary 3:46]
This verse makes it clear that Isa shall speak to people from the cradle in the same style and manner, containing the same substance and content, which he will convey to them in his mature age. If it is wrongly presumed that as a child in the cradle he will speak to people like an ordinary child, not conveying the message of Allah, the information Allah gives to Maryam becomes unnecessary, because there is no sense in recording this fact, if it means nothing

more than the "ordinary experience of every child who is not dumb". As stated in the commentary of verse 26 the child in the cradle, Isa, was selected by Allah to give the answer. This verse and verse 46 of Ali Imran clearly say that Isa, lying in the cradle, spoke clearly to defend his holy mother. It is downright mischief-making based upon meaningless interpretation to say, as the commentator of a man-made religion tries to argue, that Isa declared his prophethood in his advanced age and not from the cradle while he was yet an infant. When the self-interest oriented people do not find the exalted excellence the chosen servants of Allah possess in their favorite leaders whom they themselves choose to lay hands on worldly possessions, they have no alternative but to deny the possibility of such excellence altogether. They twist the appropriate meanings of the verses of the Quran and introduced remote and obscure inferences to confuse the people in order to put forward their conjecture and false theories. From the cradle Isa says: "Allah has given me a book (Injil) and made me a prophet." Compare the Quran's declaration that Isa was a prophet of Allah from the day he was born and the Injil was revealed to him simultaneously with the opinions of the majority of Muslim scholars and their followers about the Holy Prophet

mentioned in the commentary of verse 12 of this surah and al Baqarah: 97. The Holy Prophet said: "I was a prophet of Allah when Adam was yet in the making." Like Isa Ali ibn abi Talib was also a believer in Allah from the day he was born in Ka-bah, and was the first person to believe in the prophethood of the Holy Prophet, and never worshiped a ghayrallah.

Imams. Whosoever remains attached with them shall be saved and shall obtain salvation. Those who disassociate themselves from them shall go astray and will certainly be lost." So, either follow the thoroughly purified (Ahzab:33) Imams of the Ahl ul Bayt who are the fountain-head of guidance, mercy and wisdom, so that you go before your Lord on the day of judgement with them as your Imams, or run after those who themselves were in need of guidance. "Is then He who guides to the truth more worthy to be followed, or he who cannot find the right path unless he is guided? What ails you? How (ill) you judge?" (Yunus: 35) "Is he who walks grovelling upon his face more rightly guided or he who walks uprightly on the right path?" (Mulk: 22) Please refer to the commentary of al Baqarah: 2 and 124 to understand the following verse and know who are the true Imams chosen and appointed by Allah.

Imamun Mubin
Imam Muhammad bin Ali al Baqir said that when this verse was revealed, Abu Bakr and Umar asked the Holy Prophet: "Is imamum mubin the Tawrat given to Musa?" The answer was: "No". Again they asked: "Is it Injil, given to Isa?" The answer was: "No". Then they asked: "Is it the Holy Quran?" "No", was the answer. Then turning towards Ali ibn abi Talib, the Holy Prophet said: "Verily this is the Imam in whom Allah has deposited the knowledge of everything." Then, addressing the people present there, the Holy Prophet said: "O people, there is no branch of knowledge Allah did not teach me and I have not conveyed it to Ali. Verily Allah has given me wisdom and I have given it to Ali. I am the city of knowledge and Ali is its gate."

[Pooya/Ali Commentary 57:25] Refer to Nahl: 36 and Rahman: 8 and 9. Mizan refers to justice which gives to each person his due. Also see commentary of Shura: 17. Hadid (iron), according to the Ahl ul Bayt, refers to the Dhulfiqar, the sword given to Ali by the Holy Prophet. It also implies laws made by Allah to create discipline. Aqa Mahdi Puya says: (i) All prophets of Allah came with clear evidences. (ii) To every nation a prophet was sent who had a book with him (also refer to Nahl: 36). (iii) The three aspects of divine sovereignty referred to here are (a) legislative (b) judicial (c) executive, by the terms (a) the book (b) the scale (c) and the iron. The covenant was made with Ibrahim, the father of Isma-il as well as Is-haq, long before either of the sons was born. The Lord said to Abraham, "I will make you into a great nation, l will bless you and make your name so great that it shall be used in blessings:Those that bless you I will bless, those that curse you, I will execrate. All the families on earth will pray to be blessed as you are blessed."There the Lord appeared to Abraham and said", I give this land to your descendants." So Abraham built an altar there to the Lord who had appeared to him. (Genesis 12: 2,3, and 7) Allah chose Hajirah to bear the first child of Ibrahim and named him Isma-il.The angel of the Lord said to her (Hagar), "Go back to your mistress and submit to her illtreatment ". The angel also said:"I will make your descendants too many to be counted." And the angel of the Lord said to her:"You are with child and will bear a son. You shall name him Ishmael, because the Lord has heard of your ill-treatment." (Genesis 16: 9 to 11)

Immediately after the birth of Isma-il, Allah made a covenant with Ibrahim. Is-haq was not born at that time."Live always in my presence and be perfect, so that I may set my covenant between myself and you and multiply your descendants".Abraham threw himself down on his face, and God spoke with him and said, "I make this covenant, and I make it with you: You shall be the father of a host of nations". "I will fulfil my covenant between myself and you and your descendants after you, generation after generation, an everlasting covenant, to be your God, yours and your descendants' after you." (Genesis 17: 2, 3, 4 and 7) Allah further blessed Isma-il with twelve princes in his progeny."I have heard your prayer for Isma-il. I have blessed him and will make him fruitful. I will multiply his descendants; he shall be father of twelve princes, and I will raise a great nation from him." (Genesis 17: 20) The covenant was made with Ibrahim and not with Is-haq, a fact which the Jews overlook when they claim that the promised prophet (Deut 18: 18) should be a Jew.

KHALIFA
[Pickthal 2:30] And when thy Lord said unto the angels: Lo! I am about to place a viceroy in the earth, they said: Wilt thou place therein one who will do harm therein and will shed blood, while we, we hymn Thy praise and sanctify Thee? He said: Surely I know that which ye know not. [Pooya/Ali Commentary 2:30]
The literal meaning of khalaf is to come after, follow, succeed etcetera. In this verse it has been used in the sense of succeeding, in fact, representing Allah on the earth, to exercise His authority in terms of "reacting" to His will, as His vicegerent. This is the basis of prophethood. Some schools of thought hold the view that reason and intellect, at the disposal of man, are enough to represent Allah, and there is no need of the delegation of authority. In this verse however the necessity of a vicegerent of Allah on the earth has been conclusively proved, appointment of whom cannot and shall not be made by any one save Allah. Khalifatullah, the representative of Allah, is he whom Allah Himself delegates His authority.

[Munatzir E Qaim (AS)]

29

11/12

These are they whom We gave the book and the authority and the prophethood; These are they whom Allah has guided, so, follow their guidance; (AN-AM 89 and 90) Neither the consensus of public opinion, nor a group, nor an individual has the right to represent the will of Allah. Even the prophets or the angels did not have the right to say anything in the matter of appointment of the khalifa. Allah does not allow any one to interfere with the execution of His will, nor can any one question Him. Here and in many other places, dealing with the delegation of authority, it has been asserted that His will and choice is not arbitrary but is always based on the recognition of merit. Adam was appointed as His vicegerent, in preference to the angels, on the merit of possessing the knowledge which they did not have. According to verse 124 of al Baqarah Allah appointed prophet Ibrahim as the Imam after He had tried Ibrahim with a number of things which he fulfilled, with the clear provision that although there would be Imams in his progeny, but those who were unjust would not receive this authority. In verse 947 of al Baqarah, Saul is appointed as an authority over the people because of his wisdom and strength, in

preference to those who claimed to be more worthy than him on account of their worldly position. In verses 17 to 25 of al Sad, Allah appoints Dawud as His vicegerent on the merit of wisdom, power of judgement and obedience to Allah's will. The most important qualifications, mentioned in the Quran, are given below:(i) Untiring and continuous remembrance of Allah, with no drift or diversion under any type of circumstance.(ii) Never giving in to the demands motivated by self-oriented interests. Following only the divine revelations. Being the first and the foremost in establishing and carrying out every virtue to the point of perfection. (v) Awareness and wisdom of all laws (physical and moral) made by Allah, and their operation, so as not to make any mistakes; and for this awareness received no guidance or education from any one save Allah. (vi) No type of adversity, crisis or temptation should affect the tranquillity of the mind and the heart, described as sakinah in the Quran. Hazrat Abu Talib
Abu-Talib is the father of Imam Ali (AS), uncle of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) and son of Abdul Muttalib. Abu-Talib was at the age of thirty when Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) was born. Abu Talib's name was Abdul Munaf. His mother's name was Fatima bint Amru. She belonged to the Bani Makhzum tribe. Abu Talib was named Shaikh al-Bat-ha.

Abdul Muttalib is the one who prayed to Allah to save the kaaba from Abyssinian armies in 570 AD who came to Makkah to demolish Kabba that was build by Ibrahim, alKhalil, and his son Ismael, that year was named the Year of the Elephant. Allah has mentioned this event in the Holy Qur'an:

And send down (to prey) upon them birds in flocks, casting them against stones of baked clay. So, he rendered them like straw eaten up? Abdul Muttalib had ten sons. Abdullah, the Prophet Mohammed’s (PBUH) father, was one of them. Abdullah died a short while after Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) was born and Prophet’s mother died when he was six years old and Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) became orphan. Abdul Muttalib took care of him and on his death bed addressed to his sons and said: "A grandson of mine will be a Prophet. So, he who will be present at his time must believe in him." Khadijah (SA) and she likes him. By Allah, he'll be of great importance. Khadijah's dowry is of my money." On the 13th of Rajab, twenty-three years before the migration of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) Imam Ali was born in the family of Abu Talib. Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) ordered Imam Ali (AS) at the age of ten to invite his tribe because Allah sends Jibreel for Prophet to address his close relatives and offer Islam to them. Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) addressed: My Lord has ordered me to ask you to believe in Him. So, who will support me in this matter? Who wants to be my brother; my regent, and my successor after me? No one responded except Imam Ali (AS). Abu Talib stopped Abu Lahab from making fun of Prophet’s message and gave him his full support by kindly telling Prophet Mohammed (PBUH): “I’ll support and protect you, Go on what Allah ordered you”.

Abu Talib kept his support for Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) despite the facts of economic and social ban. In the month of Muharram, the seventh year after the Prophetic Mission, forty Quraishi leaders signed the ban and fixed it to the wall in the Ka'aba but Abu Talib did not surrender and suffered from hunger and isolation. Abu Talib took his tribe to a valley between two mountains to protect Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) from assassination. He was always visiting the valley to close the openings where the enemies might pass through to kill our Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) at night. Abu Talib, though old man, his brother Hamza, and some men of Bani Hashim were always guarding the Prophet (PBUH) one by one at night. Abu Talib was always moving the Prophet's bed from one place to another to keep it a secret. Abu Talib loved Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) more then his own sons. One day Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) went to Abu Talib and said “Uncle, my Lord ordered the

Abu-Talib addressed the sitting persons: Quraish! My nephew Mohammed (PBUH) has told me that Allah ordered the white ant to eat your Ban Page. So it has eaten it all but His Name. If he is right, the end the ban. Abu-Jahal in return said what about if he is not accurate. Abu Talib said with confidence and belief “I’ll hand you my nephew”. They opened the door of the Ka'aba. They found that the white ant had eaten every thing but Allah's Name. After that Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) and the companions began preaching Islam freely. At the age of eighty, Abu Talib knew if he died, Quraishi will try to kill his nephew. Quraishi tried to negotiate with Abu Talib to stop Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) from preaching but Abu Talib in

return told them to obey the message. Abu Talib invited Bani Hashim and asked them to support Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) at any cost. They all obeyed him and then Abu Talib die soundly. Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) kissed Abu Talib's bright forehead and whisper sadly: Uncle, may Allah have mercy on you. You educated me when I was small, looked after me when I became an orphan, and supported me when I became a grown-up. So, may Allah reward you a lot.” Few weeks later Khadijah (SA) died as-well. Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) named that year the Year of Sadness. Jibreel on Allah’s order came to inform Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) to go out of Makkah your supporter has died.

Imam Ali (AS) was born in the Kaabah. He is the only one to have been born there. His mother went toward the kaabah and miraculously the wall of the kaabah split open when she leaned on it. She stepped inside and the wall closed behind her. She remained inside for three days. On the fourth day she stepped out of the wall holding Imam Ali (AS) in her arms.

‘Afif b Qays said “I was sitting with al- Abbas b. ‘Abd al-Muttalib, may God be pleased with him, in Mecca, before the affairs of the Prophet (PBUH) became known to the public. A man came and looked up toward the sky where the sun hovered above. He turned in the direction of the Ka’bah and stood to pray. Then a youth came and stood at his right and a woman came and stood behind them both. The man bowed, and the youth and the woman bowed. The man raised his hands and the youth and the woman raised their hands. Then he prostrated and they both prostrated. “Abbas!” I exclaimed, “it is a fantastic affair” “Indeed, it is a fantastic affair,” replied al-Abbas. “Do you know who that man is? He is Muhammad b. “And admonish thy nearest kinsmen,” Quran 26:214 A banquet for 40 guests was prepared. As the Prophet (PBUH) stood up to speak Abu Lahab called him renegade and all the guests left. A few days later the guests returned and after all had eaten to their fill from a leg of lamb and a glass of milk. “- - - By accepting it, your welfare will be assured in this world and in the Hereafter.- - -.” said the prophet. He renewed his invitation thrice and only Imam Ali (AS) accepted. “This is my wazir, my successor, my vicegerent. It is reported that some days after the banquet of Dhul-’Asheera, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) climbed up the hill of Safa near Kaaba and called out: “Oh sons of Fehr, O sons of Loi, O sons of Adi, and all the rest of Quraysh! come hither, and listen to me. I have something very important to tell you.” “Will you believe me if I were to tell you that an army was hidden behind yonder hills, and was watching you to attack you as soon as it found you off-guard?” THey said they would believe him because they had never heard him tell a lie. “If that is so,” said Muhammad (PBUH) “then listen with attention- - -.” As he continued Abu Lahab said “Death to you. Torture of the First Muslims and the first Martyrs of Islam

Among the earliest converts to Islam were Yasir; his wife Sumayya and their son Ammar. They were the first family all members of which accepted Islam simultaneously. In the sight of the Quran , the most exalted person is the muttaqi - that is one who loves and obeys God. The Quraysh were not receptive of such ideas. They considered them as rank blasphemy. The Quraysh opened the campaign agaisnt Islam by harrassing and presecuting the Muslims. As time went on they started doing violent deeds. Yasir and his family had no tribal affiliation in Makkah. In Makkah they were foreigners and there was none to protect them. All three were savagely tortured by Abu Jahl and other infedels. Sumayya died while being tortured and became the first martyr in Islam and Yasir became the second. Restatement of History of Islam p 50-54

Conquest of Makkah

11/12

When the Prophet (PBUH) wanted to conquer Makkah, he asked

God, may His name be exalted, to keep the reports of it hidden from the Quraysh so that he could enter it unexpectedly. However, Hatib b. Abi Balta’a wrote to the Meccans to inform them of the decision of the Prophet (PBUH). He gave the letter to a black woman and told her to take the back road to deliver it in secrecy to Makkah. The Prophet (PBUH) summoned the Commander of the faithful (PBUH) and instructed him to bring the letter from the woman. Then he summoned al-Zubayr b al-Awwam and told him to go with Ali b. Abi Talib on this mission. When they caught up with the woman al-Zubayr was unable to get the letter from her. Imam Ali (AS) drew his sword and advanced toward her threatening to cut off her head. She gave him the letter. Kitab al-Irshad p 36

Taif

The Prophet (PBUH) went to Taif more than ten years after he had first begun to preach Islam. In Ta’if he called on three chiefs of the local tribes to abandon idolatory and accept Islam. In return Zayd and the Prophet (PBUH) were pelted with stones. He turned around and went back to Makkah. At this time Abu Talib was no more and Pagan hostility was at its peak. Mutim ibn Adiy - a pagan chief responded to the call of the Prophet. It was the same Mutim who had torn the covenant of boycott of the Quraysh. His tribe marched in full battle gear out of the city and brought the Prophet (PBUH) to the precints of the Kaaba. Here he continued his Mission. He visited the nearby hamlets and propagated the Message of Islam. The Quraysh too shadowed him during these trips and used to interrupt the meetings calling him a madcap. The Prophet (a.s) however maintained his calm and composure. He never reacted angrily and thus continued his mission.

Pilgrims from Yathrib

50

11/12

It was the practice of the Prophet (a.s) that during the Hajj, he used to meet the persons coming from far away places to give them the Message of Islam. It was the Hajj on the tenth year after the Annunciation when a group from Yathrib visited Makkah. When the Prophet (a.s) during a trip of propagation reached Mina, he came across six persons near `Uqbah. He went near them and asked about the tribe to which they belonged. They said that they were from Yathrib and they belonged to the Tribe of Khazraj. The Prophet (a.s) sat down with that group and recited to them some Verses from the Holy Qur’an and invited them to embrace Islam. They were much influenced by the Islamic Principles and they readily embraced it. Now, this was the beginning of the spread of Islam in Yathrib. During the next Hajj, twelve persons came from Yathrib and embraced Islam. The following year a contingent of seventy-three persons arrived and embraced Islam at the hands of the Prophet (a.s) these persons said that it was their desire that the Prophet (a.s) changed his residence to Yathrib and made it the head quarters for his Mission.

Abu-Jahl said that strong youths should be selected from every tribe and they should all, in unison, attack Muhammad (a.s) and kill him. Therefore, Banu Hashim will be forced to accept the blood money instead of demanding with retaliation! This suggestion was accepted by everyone and the Najdi too endorsed it. In the darkness of the night, the youths would then barge into his house and kill him.

[2:207] And of mankind is he who would sell himself, seeking the pleasure of Allah; and Allah hath compassion on (His) bondmen
Here the conclave against him was in progress, and on the other side, Allah had forewarned the Prophet (a.s) of the impending danger. “On the night of the Migration when `Ali (a.s) slept on the bed of the Prophet (a.s), Allah Revealed to Archangel Gabriel and Archangel Michael, saying: I have established a relationship of brotherhood between you two and Have made the life of one more than that of the other. Who is the one between you who can sacrifice his life for the other?’ They both opted for their individual life only! Then Allah Revealed to them why they were not like `Ali (a.s)! ‘I made him Muhammad’s brother. At the cost of his life, he is sleeping on the bed of Muhammad (a.s). Descend both of you, to the earth and guard him from his enemies!’ Therefore, Archangel Gabriel stood at the head and Archangel Michael stood at the foot of the bed and started saying: ‘Felicitations! O son of Abu-Talib! Who is like you that Allah prides on the angels because of you’ and then Allah Revealed the Verse: ‘There are also people who stake their lives in the way of Allah, and Allah is very kind on His Creatures’” Tarikh al-Khamis , Vol 1, Page 325 Translation of SIRAT AMIR AL-MU’MININ by MUFTI JA`FAR HUSAYN
