#GLOBALED12

Welcome to the 2012 Global Education Conference
Join 1000s of Educators Online for a Free Event
The 2012 worldwide virtual Global Education Conference as well as the iEARN International Conference and Youth Summit will kick off this week during International Education Week (November 12-17, 2012). We invite you to join our network of 14,000+ educators to participate in this global education extravaganza! The Global Education Conference (GEC) is a collaborative and world-wide community event designed to significantly increase opportunities for globally-connecting educators, students, and organizations. General session strands will focus on teachers, students, curriculum, policies, professional development and leadership. Keynote speakers for this year’s conference are numerous and include Tony Wagner of Harvard, Andrew Revkin of the New York Times, Dale Dougherty of Make Magazine, and social media expert Beth Kanter. The conference will reprise its virtual film exhibition and feature the work of Emmanuel Vaughan-Lee and his Global Oneness Project. These educational events are free of charge to all participants and will be held completely online in Blackboard Collaborate virtual rooms. Sessions are scheduled around the clock over the course of five days to accommodate multiple time zones. The conference schedule is now posted. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for the latest news and help us to spread the word about this extraordinary free event. Our conference hashtag on Twitter is #globaled12.

2 New Conference Strands

2012

New to this year’s event are two technology-related strands in which gamers and ed tech startups have been invited to participate. BrainPOP is sponsoring a section on gaming and game design; Cisco’s GETideas.org, in cooperation with EdSurge, is sponsoring Innovation Perspectives, a strand focused on global technology-driven education innovations. Both promise to highlight projects that leverage technology to promote global collaboration and understanding.
