That’s what mom
would have said but she left early, and she’d be working late today. Claude said she worked lots; he only got to see her twice a week when she got her days off. In other words, I’m stuck with him and won’t get to see mom for awhile. I miss her, still do, yet I don’t get to see her yet. It didn’t really bother me, Claude’s a nice guy, and he takes care of me. He makes awesome pancakes. I enjoyed three with honey gulping down a cup of warm milk before running out the door. Claude was waiting for me in the car, man he’s fast! I thought I’d beat him, but I guess I took too long eating breakfast. He drove to school like he did everyday and we waved goodbye before he drove back home again. I walked merrily, smile and all, up to the doors of the school. I had a feeling that today would be a good day. I got through my morning classes with ease, little to no interference from Catherina which was a good thing. But it was now lunch time. And from what I learned, every Monday they gave out pudding, YES I waited a whole week to have that pudding! Don’t judge me. I grabbed my tray dished up, and grabbed my pudding, puppy guarding it from Catherina who sat beside me again. It was the only place where I could sit. She wasn’t looking at me, I was thankful as I ate in peace. When suddenly there was a commotion coming from the cafeteria entrance. Mrs. Andrews walked in followed by a tall and really cute jet black haired boy. She smiled and introduced him to everyone in the loudest voice possible. “Everyone this is Mr. Cordovan, I want you welcome him and treat him respectfully!” She practically screamed, the boy bowed slightly. He looked like he was royalty. Mrs. Andrew bowed her head to him before exiting the room, everyone started to go back to their normal lunch routine. He did what everyone else did; grab a tray and get your food. Many of the girls in the room, way too many to count, eyed him from time to time, smiling and squirming in their seats happily giggling to each other. Catherina watched him ever since he entered the room with this grin on her face. She looked at me as He turned to the tables, most likely to find somewhere to sit. Oopps....again my PUDDING! All over the floor it went, I stood and my jaw dropped, I waited a long time for that pudding...wasted yet again by the evil queen. “Oh my Akira, you should be more careful, someone could have gotten hurt.” She pouted. “Yeah, like you. But no one would really care now would they!?” My inner self screamed at her, mentally choking her for a second. I held my fists at my side, not wanted to make a fool of myself and yell at her over pudding, though I really felt like it. When a hand stuck out in front of me and I saw pudding. A smile grew on my face before I looked up to see who offered it to me. “Excuse me, are you alright?” He asked me. I blushed and looked away. “I’m...fine, thank you.” I said quietly as I accepted the pudding.
“Your welcome,” He laughed slight. “I wasn’t going to eat it anyway, you can have it.” “She sure does love her pudding!” Catherina laughed just to be part of the conversation. He didn’t so much as look at her. “Do you mind if I sit here with you? I’d hate for there to be another accident.” He said so kindly that I sat without a word as he sat beside me. Catherina looked so surprised I thought she was going to have a cow about this. Not that it’d bother me if she did or not. For the remainder of lunch I ate in silence next to the new boy, I wonder if his first day was better than mine. I came here only five days ago, but still felt pretty new here. When school was over Claude texted me that he was going to be late picking me up, I said that I’d walk so he wouldn’t have to worry about it. As I was about to leave the school grounds the new boy came up to me. “Hey.” He said. “H-hey.” I said shyly. “I’m Ryker Cordovan, I didn’t catch your name earlier.” “Akira. Akira Drey, nice to meet you Ryker.” “You too. Is she always like that?” “Who? Catherina? Yeah, she can be a pain, to me at least. You should have nothing to worry about with her though. Everyone already likes you, you’ll be fine.” I have no Idea what I’m saying! AAHHHH......why am I saying this!? “Is that so? That’s a nice thought. Are you waiting for someone?” Ryker asked. “No, I’m going to walk home.” I replied, walking off down the side walk. I wanted to leave before Catherina saw me talking with Ryker, she’d never let me off the hook for that one. It was like a first offence to her if she caught you with the cute ones, they were hers so to speak. “Then how ‘bout I go with you? I have to go this way anyway.” “You want to walk me home?” “Yeah, why not?” “Sure....if you want to....” My voice was soft and barely hearable. I was surprised that he heard what I said so clearly. A smile grew on his face. I blushed when he looked at me, this made him laugh quietly to himself. We talked about school on the way home, I was a bit shocked to see Claude stepping out of his car. “Hey Akira......who’s this?” He asked when Ryker caught his eye. They stared at each other for moment. “This is Ryker Cordovan, he’s new to my school. He’s heading home, so he walked me here.” “I see. Nice to meet you I’m-“ “Claude Darren. You work for me,” Ryker stated. Claude’s jaw dropped as we stared at him. He closed his eyes and opened them slowly. “I mean...you work for one of the business my father
owned, since he passed away, he’s left everything to me instead of my elder brother Lynx Cordovan. I’m sure you’ve heard of him, he usually keeps an eye on things for me.” “Y-yeah....h-he comes b-bye often.” Claude muttered. I kept my eyes on Ryker. “Well. I have to go, it was nice to meet you both. Until tomorrow Miss Drey.” He said as he kissed my hand. He walked away slowly with his hand in his pocket. Claude was still processing what had just happened. After a few seconds reality finally hit him. He smiled and waved goodbye to his young boss, you could the overly happy aura pouring out of him. My stomach broke the mood with one loud rumble. “Sounds like someone’s hungry!” He smiled at me. I grinned and we hurried inside for some of Claude’s homemade stir-fry specials. I was starving.
I was walking through the halls with Mrs. Andrews, she was my English teacher. She was showing me to the cafeteria where she’d introduce me to the other students here. As we neared the doors, I smelt something delicious. Whatever it was it smelt unbelievably good, and we she opened the doors the rush of it hit me, so many conflicting scents. “Everyone this is Mr. Cordovan, I want you to welcome him and treat him respectfully!” She yelled, it rang in my ears so bad I tilted my head trying to not let it bother me. As my one good eye scanned the room I pin pointed that wondrous scent’s location. A beautiful red head, she looked edible....scratch that! I can’t, won’t, eat fellow classmates, no matter how good they look or how bad I want to....I hope. Sometimes it can be unavoidable. Mrs. Andrews left and I set out to get some lunch and drown out her scent, hopefully, I wouldn’t do anything I’d regret. After I got my lunch I looked for somewhere to sit, how ironic...I have to sit next to her, or near some fat with 15 pounds of fatty oils on his tray and smells kind of like my brothers dirty socks...no thanks you, I like my nose in working condition, not rotting away. So I walked over to where she was with a friendly smile on my face. The girl beside her knocked over her pudding and she got angry, reminds me of someone else who really likes his food no being touched...Lynx. I continued on my way. “Excuse me, are you alright?” I asked her. “I’m...fine, thank you.” She blushed away which made me laugh slightly, she looked cute. I offered my pudding and she took it. “Your welcome. I wasn’t going to eat it anyway.” “She sure does love her pudding!” The girl beside me laughed. I paid no attention to her. “Do you mind if I sit here with you? I’d hate for there to be another accident.” I asked. She nodded slightly and we sat down together.
After lunch everyone returned to class for the remainder of the day. I headed for mine and the cute little red head headed for hers, I thought I’d cry on the inside. I would have loved to be in the same class as her. Too bad I guess, can’t always get what you want. When school ended I left just as that annoying girl from class, the one pestering pudding girl at lunch, tried to catch up with me but I evaded her. I quickly exited the school but stopped when I saw her sitting on the bench near the parking lot texting on her cell phone. I walked over just as she got up. I ended up walking her home since she lived along the way which I needed to go. We talked about class and she told me about that blonde chick named Catherina and what she does to her. She also said that I wouldn’t have to worry, which worried me. That normally means, for me, some crazy chick I won’t be able to get rid of. What fun that would be. We soon arrived at her house, a quaint little thing, and I met a friend of her mothers, someone who worked for my father and now for me. After a brief introduction I continued on my way home, my brother would most likely be running up and down the halls worrying about me now. As soon as I reached home diner was prepared for me. Lynx jumped off the second floor foyer to greet me. “Hey! How was school for ya?” He asked, quickly looking me over. “Fine. Why?” “Just curious about how your first day went, that’s all.” He had this huge grin on his face that I would have loved to smack of him, which I did. “OW! Ryker....that hurt. Meanie” He whined. “Severs you right, you should know better than to annoy me.” “Is that so?” He said. I really didn’t like playing one of his games. “I’m hungry, go away.” He fell backwards like a brick got thrown at his face and sobbed on the stairs for effect. Such a big cry baby! Lynx sat next to me pouting; sticking out his bottom lip and picking at his food with his fork. He’d sigh loudly and lower his head slightly, giving me a puppy dog face whenever he looked up at me. “What do you want?” “Well, if you really want to know-“ “Forget I asked.” His jaw dropped and he pouted again. He whimpered faintly. I sighed heavily. “ALRIGHT! Just stop doing that.” I said. His face lightened and he looked me in the eye. “I want an apology. Your hit hard you know.” That’s all he wanted....really!? “Sorry. Happy?” “Yep, sure whatever....who was the chick?” He asked, folding his arms on the table. “Shut up! How could you possibly know about her!?” I exclaimed, standing up. “I can smell her on you; she must smell really good in person, when do I get to meet her?” “NEVER! You pervert! Out of everything stupid thing you could say. ” I yelled in thought. “All I did was walk her home....so I doubt you’ll ever meet her, and if you do I rue the day!” I said before leaving the table. “Oh yeah. One more thing.....that’s for being you.” I said as I left Lynx rubbing his sore head. Sometimes a whack on the head serves him good. I went straight to my room and laid down in my bed. I couldn’t sleep, I kept thinking about Akira, her scent, I
wanted a taste...I doubt she’d let me bite her, that’s not a good idea. After rolling around the moonlight shone in on my face blinding me a second. I smiled. Before long I was running through the forest in my fur, how wonderful it was to feel this much power, to have strong legs pushing you on, and on! Never ending feeling, exhilarating. I wasn’t paying attention to where I was going but I was going there fast. I saw Akira through her window, she let her hair down and brushed it lightly before closing the curtains, they were light but I could only see shadows. Damn them! She took and undressed, pulling a tee over her head and climbed into her bed to rest. I started moving closer but stopped myself when a nearby dog barked. She opened the window and stuck her head out. She smelt so good! I ran away, even though she couldn’t see me, I didn’t want anyone else to especially that annoying little mutt. I met Lynx in the forest as he was running to find me, we normally ran together. Rusty was with him and bowed touching his head to his front paws. I looked back and could still hear that annoying creature, but there were people now. Before I knew it the three of us were giving the hunters something to chase as we ran away from the rest of the clan, tonight was going to be a long night...real long. (Akira P.O.V) What’s that sound? A barking dog? Why? I ran toward my window and opened it, I saw nothing....wait. What is that over there, I giant dog!? No way....I’ll never doubt mom’s logic again, I’m crazy! One point for mom.
