Same sex-marriage: an abomination It is greatly unfortunate that in our time a part of the United States of America would sanction same sexmarriages. We must stress to ourselves and the younger generation that man has perverted the institution of marriage. God established the definition of marriage We note that with the first couple that walked the earth, God defined marriage: “And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.” Genesis 2:23-24 (KJV) Jesus noted the institution of marriage in teaching about divorce: “And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.” Matthew 19:4-6 (KJV) Normally, when one speaks of the passage, “What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder,” it normally refers to man giving a writing of divorcement in an attempt to dissolve a marriage that is not according to the scriptures. However, we could note this part of the scripture to further note that God established a marriage between a man and a woman. Same sex marriages in the Bible One great note is there are no same sex marriages in the Bible. The Bible has always opposed homosexuality. In the Old Testament the punishment for such an act was death

to both people: “If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.” Leviticus 20:13 (KJV) Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed for their sinful practices: “Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.” Jude 1:7 (KJV) In the New Testament Paul notes the condemnation of such perversion. In this passage the note is made that the man’s body was designed to unite a man to a woman and the woman’s body was designed likewise: “Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;” Romans 1:21-28 (KJV)

Note the punishment for those who practice homosexuality and for those who promote it: “Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.” Romans 1:32 (KJV) Who sanctioned same-sex marriage? God never sanctioned same-sex marriage. He never approved of a same-sex relationship like that of husband and wife. If same-sex couples are now allowed to marry, who sanctioned the act? Man. Does God approve of man’s perversion? No. If so, Sodom and Gomorrah would not have been destroyed for their sexual perversion. Further, God’s commandments in the New Testament would reflect that change. The passage mentioned earlier in the book of Romans is not the only passage that condemns homosexuality: “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.” 1 Cor. 6:9-10 (KJV) Homosexuality is a type of fornication. It is a type of sexual immorality. Like homosexuality, sexual immorality has never been approved by God. These things are a perversion of God’s laws. They are condemned in his sight as well as those who have allowed the change: “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!” Isaiah 5:20-21 (KJV) The hypocrisy of restricting the perversion One hypocrsity of allowing same-sex marriage is that of restricting the sanctioning to same-sex marriage. If we are going to break the bonds of marriage from man and woman to man & man or woman & woman, why stop there? Those who are proponents for same-sex marriages

show their hypocrisy by denying men and women from marrying their pets. Further, why not allow family members to marry? Our actions… We must oppose same-sex marriage in whatever capacity we can. That is, by whatever means the Lord will allow. We must teach people that such arrangements are not of God, but man. We must teach the condemnation someone faces by participate in such acts. We must not hate the sinner, but the sin. We must oppose it with the same zeal that we oppose other sins. James notes that all sin is sin: “For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it. For he who said, "Do not commit adultery," also said, "Do not murder." If you do not commit adultery but do commit murder, you have become a lawbreaker.” James 2:10-11 (NIV) We must education the young, both in life and in Christ, that same-sex marriages are not approved by God and that such things are sinful.
