DISCRIMINATION OF BASALT DIAGRAMS In this lab work, we draw the discrimination of basalt diagrams.

In the figure 1, we show that the source of sample is within plate.

According to the Petrology and Geochemistry of Intraplate Basalts in the South Auckland Volcanic Field, New Zealand: Evidence for Two Coeval Magma Suites from Distinct Sources (Cook et al. 2005), geochemical characteristics of my sample is comparable with silica undersaturated mafic magmas erupted in other continental intraplate tectonic settings, they are different from suites of alkali basalts.
